  1. that combo is not liekly to happen with slash hating axel as much as he does.
  2. i have only ever used the A1 media, is it not any good?
  3. mine go very well after a clean & gradually get slower as they clog. after around 4 weeks i give them a clean, i have found that if the piping to & from the tank is clean they flow very well whether the canister is clogged or not so often just remove & rinse the piping.
  4. it looks like the multibox got hot, i'm glad it didn't get any hotter. i would also suggest a better quality box.
  5. hmm, i misunderstood the rules completely i have paid mega bucks for fish & when they breed i basically give them away  seriously though, pay it forward i say! don't do what you would not like done to you.
  6. not any more! i was thinking my 3 children were noisy the people across from my local golf course have a cockatoo & i could hear it at least a kilometre away
  7. i have 3 CF canisters & they are great for their price, i have had them get air leaks & came very close to using one of them as target practise for my shotgun but after a complete seal replacement & re-setup it works like new again. i have found it is important they are setup properly, having a decent head height is important. having it on the same shelf as the tank make the flow slow down considerably & draw air.
  8. you could get a nice group of africans but not the any number of big haps IMO. maybe a group of 3 big fish of a single species & a few other adult malawis
  9. for a 55g i would stick with the normal sized ones, 55G isn't really big enough for a heap of the bigger ones. haps like red empress, giraffes & eye biters get pretty big but i wouldn't put them in a tank that size.
  10. then i would say africans are on the menu??

    Heating

i had 6 jebos fail the same way & as i bought them at the same time they failed within 4 or 6 weeks of each other. jagers are my choice now, they keep the temp closer to where they are set but they do cost more. there are quite a few auctions on TM with new heaters that are a bit cheaper.

    new here

hello & welcome. what africans have you got?
  13. nice fish, what size are they? they can be extremely difficult to take pics of, i struggle to get any good ones with my point & shoot.
  14. that net wouldn't do anything if you were close to it & a shark had a go at you... lucky the sharks are what they are. i would say it's more of a "mental safeness" for punters.
  15. i feed the sinking sticks which means all fish get some. i have 3 4cm altos in with 10 pembas & they don't have to fight for food as it falls to the bottom.
  16. they may be going nuts for it as they are real hungry, just a thought.
  17. it might be sweet, just keep an eye on them. so they love it, as in go nuts for it when you feed it?
  18. be careful that it doesn't make them sick, i don't know if it will be ok or not. have they started getting sunken bellies since you changed to the tetra food?
  19. i recommend jbl novo rift sinking sticks as a main food for them, they may not be getting enough feeding flake. there is a jbl flake called novo vert that is also good for the africans.
  20. what food, how much & how often are you feeding? i feed morning & night & enough so there is a small amount of food on the bottom 30 mins after feeding. be careful if you feed this much, i have heaps of filtration so it's never been an issue for me.
  21. dead fish get sucked into the intakes as that's the natural flow, it was dead before it got sucked up.
