  1. if you have to buy new Payless plastics has it as well.
  2. i recently looked into purchasing a fastways courier franchise, the fastway couriers are franchised to the local region which may also be a franchise of the franchisor which i am not totally sure of. this is the reason i din't take one as i would need to sell the delivery franchise if i wanted out. a mate is a poste haste contractor, if he wants to get out of it he just has to give a certain amount of notice before stopping being a contractor. as for the franchise group i work for, there are vast differences in locations due to the owners ability, there are 4 really great branches but the rest are ok or very poor. it is directly relevant to the person owning/running it. in saying that what we do is very technical, not as simple as couriering or other franchises.
  3. a franchise does have more control which is the very problem, someone without the knowledge or experience will most likely make a hash of it. the business i manage was bought by someone with no experience in the trade, it was a complete shambles & was loosing alot of $ when i joined but due to my experience in this business from my previous employment with the previous owner & the business experience i gained with other companies it is now very successful. i know poste haste has branch managers, all the couriers are generally contractors but they are the ones driving around dropping off & picking up rather than running the offices.
  4. yes, the last 3 of the batch. 8)
  5. i manage a franchised business & not all franchises are equal, it comes down to how good the individual is at running his business & generally franchises are not handed out to people that will be good operators rather to the guy with the $ to buy one.
  6. agree with poste haste but i suggested fastways a while back which created several posts saying how bad they are.
  7. poste haste are NZ Couriers service at a much cheaper price 8)
  8. i think it's more to do with trying to entice the female into breeding, agression is also part of that.... no means yes 8)
  9. what are you feeding them? i have mine in with the pembas & moliros & they only get vege food but seem to be growing really well.
  10. what size are the altos? all your fish look like they are nice quality fish. you got yours yet ryan?
  11. I have recently added tropheus moliro & altolamprologus comp gold head to the duboisi & pembas i keep. who has added new tangs to their collection & are there any fry available?
  12. they do eat when holding, i think some of that is also to do with how their eggs are huge compared to other africans so they can open their mouths a bit more without loosing them. what size is she & is it first spawn? my trophs have held a few times (3 or 4 times) & not yet held eggs for any longer than a few days. if you get fry that you can strip i would, the sooner you strip generally the bigger the number. as their eggs are big they have small numbers of fry, a 6cm fish may only have 6 eggs to start with.
  13. brilliant as long as it's working properly. imagine a system malfunction, your car could be lost for quite a while.
  14. get the biggest one you can affrod, it's never a problem having too much power. if you got a larger tank in the future you won't have to get a new heater as well
  15. a jager would be the best choice, a 100w jager will be rated for a 150L tank or similar. The 150w is rated for 200 to 300L tank IIRC
  16. canisters are great, i use them for larger tanks than that.
  17. get the 100w if you can, then there will be no worries. the bigger the better & in the future you may be able to use it elsewhere.
  18. i would go for two 200 watt heaters if your set on getting two, not sure about the fluval but the jagers have a 3 year warranty.

    New from Chch

    hello & welcome
  20. actually, i put a 300W jager in a 300L tank. that works perfectly, flag getting two & get one big one. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 823076.htm
  21. you can never go wrong with having two quality heaters, i would go for the jager though which ever brand you choose, either fluval or jager they will last longer than cheap ones & do a better job.
  22. they are the ones i use & tehy seem to be as accurate as my jager heaters
