  1. e yellow fryeri red empress baenschi peacocks red zebra tropheus duboisi
  2. as LA has stated it will need to be kept shaded. direct sunlight for extended periods will play havoc with temp & algae growth. as for the natives, a challenge may be keeping the temp down to what they need.
  3. i saw a cobalt blue go like that after eating a BN catfish tablet of some sort high in spirulina, it took a week or so to fade out but after that it looked normal again.
  4. ypu are supposed to be some sort of official or rep to help this site

    sand??

take into account things like how easily i will become mobile & end up in your filter. i have never had a solely sand substrate, i did have it as a base course in a planted tank & it still ended up in the filter with the stone being over an inch thick. depending on what fish you have may also determine how successful it will be.
  7. will there be any fry for sale soon?
  8. i know it sells to the trade & i will sell it to the traders if no one here wants first dibs on it. 8)
  9. anyone here want possum fur? I have some & will be getting more as i catch & pluck the possums. Hand plucked back fur only, no bellie fur.

  11. a huge vote for GAE's from me. they grow quickly so it won't be a possible dinner for long. I have only had my first one for around 8 weeks & there is no way it will fit in the mouth of my 20cm red empress & man does it do a great job. I am getting one for every tank i have this week.
  12. i cant think of any people that do the same

    Custom tank

    nice work, very original. 8)
  14. possibly the fault of a good spell checker
  15. things run the risk of becoming extinct if they don't adapt.....
  16. how do you know we aren't, maybe we would like to share our hard work with users here as well for their benefit.
  17. this is where i get this from i'd use the rainbow tropheus as an example, no shops or suppliers currently offer them but if a gropu of us could discuss importing as a group such an item on here then we could band together & import it, whether that be direct or through an importer. To me the point is not by passing the LFS & suppliers rather discussing what each of us would be prepared to, as a group to make it viable to get something new in.
  18. from what i understand KP is saying its for unique items perhaps rather than shortcutting them altogether.
  19. here are some links to info on them: moliro http://fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/viewtop ... f=31&t=654 ikola http://fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/viewtop ... f=31&t=653 duboisi http://fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/viewtop ... f=31&t=652
  20. yeah, bulu points & ikola are also available. none of them are cheap & combining that with having to get a dozen at a time they are tough on the pocket to set up. if you get 6 you will quickly start loosing them. i made that mistake in the beginning & when i got another 6 i have ad no further losses in a year or so.
  21. alot more than that, they don't get to big as adults. I would go for 2 types, moliro & duboisi & get a dozen of each ($ allowing). They may grow up to 5 inches or so but IME take a while to get to that. the bigger the group the better as they are very conspecific aggressive. Its best to get a dozen or more of each type.
  22. it wouldn't shake it off but the rocking back & forwards may tip it over is what i was thinking. I have a factory made tank/stand that in a quake may tip over forwards if it was bad enough.
  23. it would be easy to fix the stand but what about the tank itself? a tie down strap or similar around it & fixed to the wall?
  24. no way will you fit that tank in a civic
