  1. yes you are right, it is kinda like being penalised for someone elses mistake but the fact is the way you choose to commute creates alot more cost for ACC than if you were in a car. Its the same for 16 to 25 year old drivers & their insurance providers, they simply cost more to cover as they have more crashes so the insurer must charge more for that group.
  2. anyway, back to the topic. A classic car has lower rego rates if it is aged before a certain year, motorbikes don't have the same?
  3. you cant compare performance between cars & bikes just like you cant compare the safety of each in a crash. Cars are slower but which one would you want to be piloting in a crash with another car?
  4. Thanks for the offer but i shall pass. I would need to build a hutch etc & my cats wanted it for lunch so that was a hassle trying to have fun with it & keep it from becoming cat food. Thanks again
  5. Charges are based on the stats, builders pay heaps were as my office pays less so it is relevant to sectors. those are health considerations not injury & yes they should refund some tax but those will discount your health insurance.
  6. i have seen that, this guy was so hammered he literally fell out of his car.
  7. from the above posts i can tell that myself, phoenix & spoon would be persuaded one way & beer sanctions would twist your arm jim.
  8. i was going to say "what ever will fit in their mouths".
  9. at the end of the day, motorcyclists in this country as a group cost more to fix & longer to rehabilitate from injuries whether it was their fault or not simply because of being on a bike. I grew up on bikes as did all my dads side of the family, they were bikies around Chch. two of my cousins are amputies & my uncle has spent years on ACC from bike injuries & i choose not to ride on the road as i see it too risky by looking at my family. Thats my choice & therefore i don't have to pay for that directly but those who choose to need to help with the costs created by this pleasure. I am sure that if you are injured (i hope you never are) you will appreciate the services you will recieve to fix your injuries but that does come at a cost. & for the multiple rego's, we all pay rego's on multiple cars whether we drive them or not.
  10. the parking wardens are now issuing wof/reg tickets here now.
  11. i can understand why motorbike rego is having a ACC hike. I was in the orthopeadic ward of whangarei hospital for 3 months. Being there that long left a lot of time to watch what goes on. There were generally two types of patients, old men with hip or knee replacements & those injured in a motorcycle crash. The problem is that whether its the bikies fault or not, when they get injured its a major & therefore costs alot to fix & with severe injuries it also takes a long time to heal or get back to work so ACC pays alot out on motorbike riders than car drivers.
  12. if you leave her she should be fine, how big is the tank? She will spit them around 25 days from spawning depending on temp & water conditions. how big are the yellows?
  13. i did the same 3 months ago, they will soon be fully feathered & laying. at the moment it may be too cold down there for them to keep warm & lay.
  14. i would buy more but damn they are expensive, around $30 per juvie at about an inch long is the current rate & buying at least 12 is a must if you want them to survive.
  15. as i understand it they lay less & less each year, they still lay until old but no where near as many. im lost with this
  16. we will be "turning over" our stock every 2 or 3 years as they lay less each year.
