  1. hes stuck between a rock and a hard carapace...i think thats how it goes
  2. not that im aware of. The hobby seems to be growing though so maybe we will some day. dont expect to see much variety though, or atleast not like overseas.
  3. mine seemed to prefer frozen bloodworms. but would graze on algae wafers if thats all they got given
  4. my jager isnt. its got 2 lines on the plastic top. one for min water level, one for max. very top suppose to be out of the water? thats how i always understood it anyway. maybe newer models are diff i see the ehiem in this thread has the min line, but i cant see top line hmmm
  5. Cheap multibox's are nasty, they shouldnt be sold. thats an interesting way to look at it P44. Sounds like somthing a commercial outfit would make up to suit. They shouldnt have condensation at all as far as im aware. They often do it over time, but i always assumed it was just water slowly getting in. Your not suppose to submerge the whole thing like 95% of us do. top suppose to be out of water.. I often get small electirc shocks off the water if i use an old heater with condensation. Ive never seen a new heater out of the box have condensation?
  6. cold water fish? could try lowering temp and or just try a slighty cooler water change done through an air hose (slow). See how the react?
  7. maybe. i would say much like fish..there is a risk. but in most cases the benefit far out weighs the risk. not a disease as such. but ive seen a massive worm that came out of a locust, apparently roaches are known to be worse. anyway all part of life i suppose.
  8. what plants are they likely to be found on in the wild? go to a garden centre/look on trademe at some of the natives.
  9. very mild winter here so far feels like spring already.
  10. i just googled willow moss...it does look similar but has that ever been here? and need more pics top pic looks like an exotic weed. bottom native ground cover, semi aquatic maybe.
  11. id say yes you are likely to find it. why not? doesnt look like what you have to me anyway
  12. top looks like a type of oxygen weed? bottom almost looks like a moss founds around damp forest floors http://www.nrc.govt.nz/Environment/Weed ... club-moss/
  13. Head bobbing will be the rage again very soon.
  14. the floating bit was what concerned me, otherwise it looks ok tbh. atleast 30-40% water change done slowly is what i would do. they like clean water and cold. pebbles are a death trap but thats upto you . best food really is insects (crickets, locusts, moths, worms/ etc), tadpoles, fish. diced ox heart is ok, best put on a kebab stick so you can get it infront of them.
  15. it is something simple with many uses. good little experiment/s
  16. to add pics here, all you do is copy the code on photo bucket with something like img. or that link you gave, just highlight and click Img here. Click preview and it should load pic. then post etc hth axie doesnt look too bad. id get rid of pebbles though, theyre perfect size to cause trouble. Sand is suppose to be ok but i prefer nothing. do a partial water change if you havent done so in last few days. if you do decide to take pebbles out. just take enough clean water out first and put axies in a bucket etc.
  17. im trying to create a contant source of green water. im moving into bio fuel. had enough of been a herpy
  18. take the pebbles out, they can block them up. sounds blocked up, hopefully without pebbles in tank it will pass what ever is in there.
  19. hhmmmm water was green but wasnt getting soupy like i wanted. turned bubbles off, let settle. look closely....daphnia lapping it up. fail. im not sure how they got in but it doesnt surprise me. since got 4 goldfish from animates. theyve neally eaten all the daphnia think ill leave the fish in and just over feed, which in thoery feeds the green water. just hope the fish dont eat too much of the green water :-? . i was originally going to use nutrients and no fish but daphnia defeated that.
  20. thats sad. almost looks past it to me. would be interesting to see if it bounces back at all, but that maybe wishful thinking.
