  2. thats interesting i thought that was pretty much a human right..
  3. food, water (between 2p.m. and 4p.m. ), environment. keys to life
  4. yea ah yea, here i was thinking i was really onto something lmao
  5. true that hmmmm  Sorry ignore this thread. i read an article wrong it was refering to the time of day after all  ......was talking about moisture then went on to between 2 and 4p.m. refering to the time after all. Ill just walk over here
  6. Please dont say wait until the afternoon  As per title does anyone know how i get some dirt between 2 P.M. and 4 P.M. (part per million?)moisture content. or how to measure in p.m. etc I cant think atm and doesnt appear to be a moisture meter that reads in P.m. on trademe... tia
  7. hahahahaha far out thats awesome. I cant even get close to that and it hurts
  8.  thats hard to beleave spoon.....pics please
  9. chinese on colour but bumps hint jap....did it use to have orange above tail? Pattern and colour of belly may indicate which it is also but i cant memba which is which now ive sold my breeders. Hard to sex but possible to make a good guess if others to compare to. Need others cos females have a bit of a bulge there aswel, males just bigger. More obvious with age as males get bigger and more defined 2 bumps. Males tail will also go to a point when mature and may get colouration and or stripes on tail when in season. only need a small tank, i keep 5 that size in a small plastic tank with vented lid. guess 30cm long 20cm wide. I almost need to upsize the tank but thats give you some idea how little room they need. 1 to 2 inch water and bit of driftwood in middle which has a little bit of java growing on. feeding pinhead to small crickets, they eat on land and in the water, just started them on frozen bloodworms, use tweezers to get them use to it, doesnt take much encouragement and soon just drop a cube in. can co exist but i wouldnt do it, wouldnt want to risk them breeding, not sure if possible tbh.
  10. even your index finger looks to be heading in the wrong direction
  11. Nice pics, first bd ive seen sleep on its back. Did you lay him like that when you tucked him in?
  12. Both have + and -'s. Crickets are the best feeder hands down 8) Locusts are easier to breed but harder to manage cos they jump/fly everywhere. Not so bad if only small scale for a couple of herps. Id much rather just breed reptiles
  13. Yep, so understandably some faith is lost. But if anything the Iguana saga should have served as a warning. Not ok lets make up our own mind or beleave what ever the seller has to say.. Imagine if Maf said no theyre actually being investigated and likely to be destroyed.....seller would of moved them and black market here we come...
  14. Personal issues hmmmm. Sht happens is what i put it down to, live and learn. In my case i couldnt have done anythign different anyway, i didnt purchase or even make contact with said person, but my name was still put in the hat. Had a nice visit but ive got nothing to hide so it was all good. The writing was on the wall in regards to those frogs, dont be so naive and point the finger....you are part of the problem whether you see it or not. Just be cautious of anything that sounds to good to be true. Contact Maf your self if unsure on anything. In regards to it costing money to setup a licence system or similar. Obviously it will cost to setup, but the potential environmental cost of not making changes is far far greater, priceless even.
  15. is this new developments or just old speculation doing the rounds again?
  16. imagine if snakes had legs aswel, good chance they could move even quicker skinks will mo down a roach (one of the faster feeder insects) no trouble at all. They can move surprisingly fast (when they want/need to) so best to just be cautious having them lose outdoors especially on hot days. they do look silly but theyre actually very smart. Smarter than bds imo.
  17. We have all sorts...depending who you talk to, and who and what you beleave lol definitely use to have some in containment/zoos, but that stock apparently has/had problems with tumours :-?
  18. the above is here, but start saving ya penny
  19. If your going to use sand then black should be ok, pretty sure ive seen someone else use it. I sit on the fence whether sand is ok or not though. Id probably use it/some if doing a large display tank, otherwise i just use artificial grass as its safe and easy to clean. Reptile fluro as long as the setup or atleast half (down basking end) Basking light, i just use a 40-60watt spotlight from bunnings. Probably best on a thermostat but not a must. anything over 60watt prob best to have wire cage around bulb so it doesnt get burns. no night time heat as long as temps above 15C. if below, then can use emitter or heat mat. Both best on thermostats but once again not a must. thats just me, the care sheet on here will probably answer most of ya q's
