  5. few classics in there
  6. welcome, nice to see another reptile keeper
  7. malcolm - yea its nice seeing frogs in the wild but theyre exotic so i dont think authorities would approve of you releasing them, your not suppose to realease anything captive bred i thought (could be wrong) without permits or permission to do so atleast youd be better off helping to clean up potential habitats as if the frogs arnt there now you have to ask yourself why? i think frogs are on the come back as seem to be popping up everywhere over the last year or 2 but previous i couldnt find any, maybe just luck but its pretty cool i found whistlers and bells withing 5km of each other
  8. id be keen to have a look , i cant even get on tht bt site tonight copy and paste here or is it pretty big? someone else more computer savy maybe of more help
  9. yea insects are good but they dont seem to charf them bak like the bearded dragons do and need bt's seem to give up chase pretty quick if they show any interest in the first place. you can hand feed them insects but they dont really go mad over them, snails they do but even they can sometimes get away (possibly just offering to many) lol take the legs off crickets/locusts and put in a dish/mix in with sallad/fruit and meat etc. sometimes i take there heads off crix to as they hve decent chompers on em  otherwise meat, vege, egg, snails, banana etc seem all good
  10. guttered, ive been abit lost for words since hearing this Bryan was one person i would've loved to have met, been freinds with a close freind of his i only ever heard good things about this young man and his achievments and passion for the hobby. my heart goes out to all r.i.p man

    WCMM ratio

to actually anwser your qustions  lol ratio i dunno i just used groups and fry did seem to hang around the top in indian fern and or duckweed but good to have plants below for spawing hence why i just fill tank with javamoss and maybe indian fern ontop.

    WCMM ratio

i use to fill a tank with javamoss add the minnows (pref feed em up prior) and give heaps of livefood/food in general, you should see them spawning and id remove adults 2-3days later then wait for fry, worked well, u could just remove the plants every few days to i geuss. other option make up a box out of mesh (stainless pref) and then you can put fish in that and whey they spawn eggs fall below out of reach of adults, move to new tank every few days (never done this myself but always wanted to try it) or mesh even security screen door mesh across bottom of tank so eggs fall through etc worked well for danios so may work for minnows all fun and games theyre tricky little fish - supposeibly breed like rabbits but i think they eat (fry) like rabbits to. or add male an female to a tank full of plants and it should populate but if your after numbers then best seperate i rekon hth
  15. I spoke to a breeder recently who uses sand and rekons they love it and they might as they seem to love digging but im not convenced, call me paranoid but its just an obvious risk not worth taking imo so ive gone to artificial grass for now as its safe as and easy to clean, just provide some sorta hide tunnel cave things and they seem happy as larry or even a peace of newspaper they like curling up in/under bunnings/mitre 10, even the warehouse sell the artificial grass (outdoor carpet) and its not woven so they cant get claws caught in it, you even get a choice of colour i still may try em on sand but if i do it will prob be half sand half carpet/tiles for feeding on etc but long term outdoor setups especially over summer p.s they love snails to
  16. so if using batts what would you then line/cover with? building paper and?
  17. if i was to post the locations of known frog populations (exotics) sadly i dont think theyd be there that long or atleast the majority of the tadpoles if you want a frog or 2 as a pet i think supporting a petshops a good idea - want to make an earn out of frogs...... bred them
  18. interesting didnt know they were threatened - doesnt surprise me though people eat them as about 6months ago a local was telling me about there lil spot to collect them, i was thinking about getting some for me turtles but never ventured out to have a look and wont be doing that now knowing there status..
  19. you maybe aloud an electric wire/fence but i doubt your aloud an electric fence that would actually cause any harm?
  20. start diggin a new pond for her
  21. hello and welcome to nz  :bounce:
  22. can be hard to tell even to the trained eye so im told. males and there sperm plugs make it easy to sex them but females are abit more tricky i have noticed though when putting male & female together male seems to pause alot and has his head in a staunch stance and likes to bite passing female neck? i suppose male vs male could do this but often just observing there behaviour gives a little insight - says he who has very lil experience with these
  23. nice one cheers, im definately keen let me know when your ready to sell some fluon
  24. you do have a point there Stella, assuming u want to feed livefood to replicate the wild diets of what your feeding, then insects could be cultured more naturally but that can be easier said than done. Id probably feed commercial pellets to my animals if theyd eat them so dont see much problem feeding to my insects, but you have gt me thinking 8) You know i am i was looking at getting family to purchase for me in aus and send over but may not nd to when feeding out roaches do you have much trouble with escapes? im just letting mine breed for now but was thinking maybe plastic bins with fluon would be good for feeding the lizards roaches in?
