  1. thanks Tabz. Reptile nut.....have you ever had any trouble with the blue tongues and beardies in same setup? I saw a vid of some bluetongues fighting recently (doing death rolls) and dammmmmm i never thought the bts could be so nato
  2. nice and tidy setup nissan.....can i ask where you got the vents and what they cost roughly?
  3. mmm not sure sorry...but is styrofoam just sheets of poly or something else?
  4. good sign just getting eggs, do you know if the female has been mated? i know of someone with reeves that are of size but never laid, or atleast theyve never seen eggs which surprise's me a bit.
  5. p.s its amazing how much bad press mealworms have out there when you start to look. I only feed them as a treat maybe once every two weeks but i think im going to stop all together......did wunder if one had ruptured the gut of this girl as i think i gave her some after she laid eggs as a treat....but none in the gut so who know's
  6. blood in her stomach and some lower down in the intestine which seemed to just be clotted blood, about an inch from the vent....at mouth end was mucus/flemy looking stuf. no live food i could see which i find sort of odd. Thanks for the nice comments above ppl. Was bit of a shock at the time, had to be one of my favourit dragons but anyway im not sure there was much i could have done differently. A blood or stool sample tested probably wouldnt have hurt. On the upside things have never looked better here (bank account not included lol) and seems atleast half a doz of her eggs are fertile. + Added bonus the sister is getting very close to beeing ready to have an appointment with a male gota love this time of year.
  7. no substrate, 1-2inch water, drift wood with java moss... hey presto happy newts
  8. Sorry to hear Jim. Tank may of been faulty but surely if your not aware that then they ought to pay out. If i bought a tv that turned out faulty and caught fire and burnt my house down id expect them to pay out.
  9. i had a smallish group growing on at about 1 to 2years old. All of reasonable size but one smaller and he seemed to get picked on. toes and even the tip of tail gone at one stage. All my newts seem to have there digits now so i figured it healed up.
  10. sorry i was meaning morphed newts regenerating limbs etc not babies. my tip would be keep setup simple and secure so they cant escape.
  11. are you sure? im fairly sure the feet or atleast the toes of one of my newts have grown back in the past.
  12. will keep that in mind for the future, thanks Caryl. I think i remember someone mentioned on here a while back they used the plastic often used to cover sileage (sp?), its white on one side and black on the other....the dam liner sounds like the go though
  13. i dont think they eat that much to even notice around here most likely frogs would trample them im thinking.......will look into the other sorts mentioned above wot the....must search that. sounds very interesting
  14. looking good, some blue tongues would go well in there
  15. it was very cool to wake to see 3 lil ones running around and more on way...had half a doz or so one in vid above the sack broke on way out, others came all the way out still, then came to life and did there thing....unreal to see
  16. if it doesnt buffer for too many hours u may even be able to watch it
  17. Just looking at my fly trap flowering and just wondering if they would be suitable to grow in a frog tank, and whether it would be safe for the frogs etc? cheers
  18. will be a few disapointed people haha unreal go the Tua man
  19. beardies seem to prefer to hang out at the highest point when basking/during day so i make the basking site just that. rest very simple for feeding bugs. night time they normally go to lower parts and hide away. heat emitters are good, although if they blow you have to be onto it, to notice...dont want cold lizards also i like to have a light over basking area so its bright. emitter on its own doesnt seem rite to me during the day.
  20. from observations id say beardies do sense bottom heat but you do hear of burns so maybe no very well. Im thinking mainly for night so may put heat pad even just for half of the tank. So they can still get away if wanting to. Or just ceramic emitters i suppose.
  21. one of the nicer enclosures ive seen is the climber/plant live of fake?
