  1. hi ken, i went through this a few months ago and ended up getting a thing from the warehouse for a few dollars, and jimmyd it up with some of those irrigation fittings. have since stopped using this cause it kept popping off the tap and making a mess. in my discus tank I just use cold water from the hose when only doing a 30% change. doesnt make a lot of difference to the temp as long as you dont blast it in there fast. some people may disagree but it works for me.
  2. nope, cant say i have. intersted to see what happens tho  have fun tomorrow, gutted i cant come
  3. hi dianne, what fish are u talking about getting on with bristlenose? or are u talking about bristlenose getting on with each other?
  4. im after instructions how to actually do it , not just a list of products?
  5. hey fizgig, would be interested to hear how u actually acheive this fast cycle? cheers
  6. cheers ron for the advice, unfortnately i have no space to have a breeding tank at the moment. not until i get my garage up anyway. the fighting seems to have eased off now and the wounded one is keeping away from the eggs which is promising last time i removed a pair into a barebottom to breed they sulked in a corner for 3 months until i put them back into the community where they instantly went back to normal- swimming around happily and eating hungrily. would this be because of the change between planted and barebottom? or the lack of other discus to chase away?kind of annoying as they spawned 2 weeks after being returned to the community
  7. the eggs are still there now, but time will tell ay. there not too much chance with those b/n and rainbows in there, soon as i feed them they will probably be gone
  8. theres 7 discus in the tank, and yea the fighting is only between those two. will see what happens today if theyre still fighting ill move him out to a sparetank
  9. hey sharn do u take your wounded ones out to heal or just leave em be? just wondering cause the pair have laid, but the two males are still scrapping it out. and if your wondering antwan your one is a female and has paired up with the solid blue one. the turk has been hammered
  10. sounds like blue green algae mate, if u want a quick fix use erthromycin, although it will probably reappear again unless you find the problem thats causing it in the first place. some others may be able to tell u the cause? if you come to tga i can give u some erthromycin if u cant get locally
  11. hey there 8) one of my discus has been wounded quite badly fighting over a female, and i was wondering what the best way to treat is? around the mouth is very raw looking and has heaps of scrapes along the sides. will be getting a spare tank to put him in tonight coz hes still wanting to fight  any advice greatly appreciated cheers

    This or that

    chocolate discus or angels?
  13. hey penguinleo, ive used erythromycin on my planted tank twice now with no ill effects, and it worked amazing. got rid or the cyano in about 5 days.
  14. im not saying its the way to go but i have a friend who keeps just 1 discus in a 130l planted community with a red tail shark, angels, fire eel, barbs etc and it is doing fine. he bought it when it was about 3-4 cm an since it has grown well. im pretty sure it thinks its another angel  . i personally wouldnt try this combo but just an example of what can be done. best thing u can do is read up as much as u can in books and on the net before u start buying discus as theyre not cheap and it sucks when they die.
  15. i have never known my discus to be jealous, only hungry
  16. hi joy, 7.2 is fine. as long as its stabe.
  17. i keep both together and then get on fine
  18. hmmmm that sucks. my ones tend to make other fish dissapear
  19. i just shifted my 280l planted tank with about an inch of water, plus all sand and plants. just get a bit of thick ply or mdf or something strong to put the tank on to save the base. that way i was able to leave most of the fish apart from the discus in there. to store water in (and discus) i just used one of those 120 litre bins from the warehouse.we only shifted about 5 minutes away, but it only took just over 2 hours with no deaths
  20. right on ljtan55 heres some more
  21. so ive been told havent tried myself but hope to in the near future
  22. do you know what one you are looking to buy?
