  4. Seeing other squashed Puks on the road doesn't seem to stop the rest of them crossing the road, especially to steal apples out of an orchard...
  5. Hi reptilez, and welcome - how about introducing yourself in the Welcome section?

  7. As a mother of a teenage girl who mows the lawn at the hottest time of the day despite being reminded to do so for most of the morning - and as my Father used to say - No brain, no pain.
  8. Two thousand and ten - the other way sounds so American...
  9. They are pretty small - no man will fit down the gap when you remove the cover! They are about 200mm across - that's 8 inches for you oldies. They are all next to the stormwater grates on the kerb, there aren't that many around, either.
  10. Here you go Stella - go to Wellington for a holiday and end up taking photos of drain covers! I don't know what is under the cover - didn't have anything on me pry one up, and I was getting enough weird looks bending over the damned things with my phone that has no zoom on the camera... people probably thought I was having a chuck down the drain
  11. Well, we seem to have acquired a couple more teenagers for the evening, so apart from the fact that we cannot bundle all of them in the car to go watch the fireworks, there is no way that we are going to leave them home alone... So looks like we will be staying in this evening.
  12. What sort of HOB filter is it? And where is it leaking from?

    BBS

I use an old handkerchief - one that has been through the wash so many times that it is so thin that it is virtually useless for it's intended purpose. I built a bubbler thing for hatching the shrimp that was made out of the top half of a fizzy bottle and had an airline that went through a wooden base and then up through the lid of the inverted bottle - I stopped using this to hatch the shrimp as I could not keep the temperature consistent to get a good hatch rate - I now use it to strain the shrimp by placing the hanky over the top and pouring the jar of BBS into it, then release the water back into the jar using the airline tap and use it again. Pour clean water into the bubbler (closing the tap first) and use a turkey baster or pipette to feed the BBS out to the fish.
  15. Show off! I would offer a white tail, but it just got flushed - cheeky thing, ran across the table with it's spider equivalent of it's butt in the air...
  16. Merry Christmas to you too Tracy ps - the birds with lips and teeth are just wrong!
  17. You can use either or both. The bits should get either settle or get sucked back into the filter.
  18. Lamps, or tubes, Sam - bulbs grow in the garden... as I used to get told all the time  How deep is your tank TTK? And what are you trying to grow?
  19. Erk... P44, you had better get snapping before Jennifer has kittens
  20. Are you interested in a blowfly with a iridescent green tinge? It is sitting in a tissue on my desk - if you do not want him he is going in the bin! (Unless he gets away before you reply...)
  21. On the second day of Christmas a fishy friend gave to me Two furry snails And a whistler in a pohutikawa tree
  22. Time to add your own pics and verse: On the first day of Christmas my fishy friends gave to me A whistler in a pohutikawa tree
