  1. Hi Will Welcome to the forums, and thanks for your generous offer. How about adding your location to your profile in case someone is interested in picking these up, or inviting you to visit their killie setup.
  2. Is this the same as the one Rozski posted here? viewtopic.php?f=17&t=36937 Stripes on the thorax look the same, but I could be wrong, and she will have to tell us how big it was!

    Notho pig out!

240L... That's rather spacious - do you want some more to put in there, or are you hanging out for some other types of killies to put with them?
  4. Nice pics - don't know about the Stoat, though, looks like the dog is terribly interested in it!

    Notho pig out!

And just what is that supposed to mean? *sends hoards of recently hatched mozzies in Taupo direction* How are those killies that you acquired on the 7th?

    Notho pig out!

Yup, they have a pottle of peat to play in if the mood takes them!

Methinks my Notho has eaten too many mozzie wrigglers that I got off fishbait today? They don't usually have the dark patch behind the gills.
  8. This is not quite correct, labyrinth fish possess an organ above the gills that allows them to absorb oxygen from the air, this allows them to live in water with a low oxygen content. They still 'breathe' through the water, and hence the concern from other posters here that the water quality still has to be of an acceptable level for the fish to survive. I presume by your descriptions of your tank that it is an AR320, which has a pump driven under gravel filter (UGF) with a spray bar. This is probably not a suitable tank to house your betta in in its current configuration if you are concerned about the water movement, as suggested, you could not use the UGF and put in a sponge filter instead. This will house the bacteria needed to run a healthy tank, provide some mechanical filtration and create surface disturbance to oxygenate the water. The male betta will just build another nest if the current disappears.
  9. Is it one of the tanks with a spray bar that goes the along the back of the tank? If so, turn it around so that the holes face the back wall, this will deflect some of the flow. The other thing you could try is chop the bottom off a polystyrene cup, leave a small bit of rim and put this in the front corner of the tank with the rim facing downwards - get the air out from under it first, your fish may build it's nest under here instead, and the rim should protect the nest from the water flow.
  10. Active little guy, I can see why the photo thing would be a nightmare!

  16. 4 - 5 April 2009 The National Aquarium of New Zealand, Marine Parade, NAPIER This year we are privileged to have the use of an area within the National Aquarium to host our show, this will be a great opportunity to see many different types of Killies. Details here - http://www.fnzas.org.nz/index.php?PG=eventfish
  17. Ahh... thrill of chasing a cat around the house with something in its mouth going... zick...zic....zick...zic... Weird about the images, Nav. The only difference I see between Caryl's and Ira's is... Ira's is 20kb smaller and 53px less heightwise. He has also stripped the EXIF data out of his image. But apart from that, there is not much else. Perhaps if Caryl's had been huge in file size, I could sort of understand what is going on, but unfortunately this is not the case... Sorry.
  18. It would depend on which version they are running, I know people still on a really old (like seven versions ago) versions because the price to upgrade it with multiple seats is now prohibitive, where as it used to support multiple seats at not much extra cost.
  19. Hi Caper MYOB is an Australian product, it may be company policy for all of their branches to use it worldwide. Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, From the newsletter we receive from our online accounting package, Xero I have never used MYOB, but know people who do. I think the main thing about accounting package choice is price, MYOB now requires you to pay per user or seat, so if you only have a few accounting staff using it, it may be cost effective, but if you use some of the modules such as manufacturing or have a separate and very large purchasing department, the cost will start balloon for running the package. Also staff retraining costs could be a factor, if you change accounting packages, you have to retrain all of your staff who use it. And, all accounting packages are not created equal, and MYOB may offer modules that work perfectly for this company, whilst others may not. HTH
