  3. Hi Milky, welcome to the Forums :bounce: I haven't bred Fighters, I've tried but my male was too old, but it's best to remove the female after she's released her eggs because the male will see her as a threat to his eggs.
  4. You're right, their time will come. A lot of people forget about a thing called Karma and what goes around will come around.
  5. Yeah, I know about their redecorating habits. Morcs, you make a good point re: an Eartheater. I'll do some more research 8) and I've always thought a Borneo Tiger would be cool 8) From what I've read so far I would probably be better to get the tankmates first and let them get some size before adding an Oscar to the tank, due to the faster growth rate of the Oscar.
  6. I know what you mean....I was dubious the first time I tried it. I rinse it until I can't smell bleach and then rinse it some more  Easiest way I found was to leave them in the shower.
  7. I dip my rocks in a weak solution of bleach and then rinse them really well and dry them in the sun.
  8. Hi all. I'm thinking very seriously of getting an Oscar in the next month or two and I'm looking for pics of fish and full tank set ups to inspire me. Please post yours and any good links too 8) I've done some research already and I've seen Red Tigers, Reds and Albinos. Are there any others available to us? I'm thinking of getting a Red Tiger at this point. I'll also be getting a Plec of some description but some advise on other possible tankmates would be appreciated. Tank size is 5 foot, 540 litres. Filtration will be an FX5 or two if it's deemed necessary.
  9. Well done :bounce: :bounce: Welcome to the world Luca :bounce: :bounce:

  12. I've done the final calculation and it works out to be cheaper than I first thought at around $25/mth. It's in the main living area where the temperature is in the range of 16 to 22C.
  13. I love Whittakers Dark Ghana 72% it's so much better than Cadburys Old Gold 70%, even before the recipe change.

  19. I think it depends on where in NZ you live. Here in ChCh the water isn't treated so it's safe to use straight from the tap.
