    Quarantine?

I always quarantine new fish just as you say.....3-4 weeks in their own tank. I don't medicate if it's not necessary.

  13. The tumbler is supposed to replicate the constant movement given to them in the females mouth. Maybe I went to too much trouble and they may well have been O.K. in a net or fry tank, I'll probably give that a go if the opportunity arises. They are now in a BB tank with other Sunshine fry.
  14. Hi all. I netted a female Sunshine Peacock a couple of weeks ago and she released her eggs prematurely. I hung the net in the tank while I did a quick Google to DIY an egg tumbler. I used this site and cobbled one together as quick as I could. I've done a bit more research since and there's some interesting ideas on YouTube. I might try another method if there's a next time but this way worked O.K. as a first attempt. I can't say when they were spawned but when they first went into the tumbler they were just eggs and by the next day they had a tiny tail and by the second day there were eyes. I started with 54 eggs and I've ended up with around 25 fry, I haven't done a proper head count yet. This vid is from day 3.... Day 6.... Day 13.... Yesterday, day 14, I put them into a fry trap. This vid is from today....
  15. Hi Richard. Welcome to the forums :bounce:
  16. I've done a wee bit of reading so I certainly agree that the rules of punctuation and spelling are useful but in an informal forum I'm willing to let the odd mistake slip by
  17. But no spelling errors. And even with an apostrophe or two in the wrong place the meaning still came across just fine....weird huh?
  18. Good stuff Caryl, I didn't realise just how tough I was back in the day  Is this a fish forum or an English language forum?? I ran a spell check over it and it found no spelling errors.
  19. Hi blueguppies, welcome to the forums :bounce: I've never heard of recycling tank water.....I use it to water my plants
