The trouble lies in the fact that once they're out of the breeders hands there's no saying what will happen with them. They or their offspring may end up in someones tank who has no idea where they came from originally, all they'll know is that they were sold some fish called a Lemon Zebra so that's what they'll say they are and that's what they'll sell them as, with no mention or knowledge of the fact they're not pure. I've had a similar discussion on a Cichlid forum in relation to Aulonocara breeding with Metriaclima and theoretically any mouth breeder could breed with another.

You're right, fish like these shouldn't be distributed. And they've made up their own name too :evil:

They are harem breeders so it's best to have 1 male with 2 or 3 females.

Ouch, sorry to hear of your injury and that it's making you cut back on fishkeeping. I hope you heal quickly. I work in the engineering field so I've seen some wicked injuries and I've received a few. Hands can be the worst, who knew they were so useful? or handy? I'm now working in the foundry industry and we have to be extra aware of what's going on. As you'd imagine molten steels are very unforgiving. We even have to watch what we wear, natural materials only.
