  1. Thanks Warren, if I was in a normal flat I'd be following that advice, however, I live in an Art Deco Building, landlord is going to have a fit as it is. Guess I should have put that in my first post. I'm heading down to Wellington in 2mths and will check out the stands at Bunnings in Palmaston North on the way back... Billaney was kind enough to take a photo of his so I could decide if it was worth a look. This thread: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/previous-vt10662.html?postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 I was thinking of maybe getting some wood (or Marine Ply?) to brace the stands to each other instead of bracing them to a wall. What do you think. (Might have to bribe somebody to cut the wood for me... Bruce drinks Heineken, right? ) As for Beer creates or concrete blocks.... where would I get them cheaply? Zev, I already had the bad (Good) ideas... I was going to do this a few months ago but took pity on a friend who was in a nasty flat (ppl-wise) and let her move in to the spare room. She's moving to Australia soon so I get the room back. As for the doors... if I went with that idea I'd be VERY careful about what sort of door it was. Keep posting guys... you're all making me think which is exactly why I posted this thread. I really appreciate all the help!
  2. LOL if I can't carry it up the stairs myself I can't have it. Looking at 80L-100L tanks.
  3. I see a road trip to Palmy in my future... guess I'll have to check out Wet Pets while I'm there
  4. When I was younger I used to dream of a fishtank that ran through every room of the house in the walls. I used to call it a "Fish run" after my uncle's "Cat run" :bounce: :bounce:
  5. So the holes are too small for the fry? What size tank is that? (I'm playing with ideas for guppy line breeding lol)
  6. BTW in the first photo (the second tank from the bottom on the left) what are the blue deviders made of? Did you get them from a fish shop or did you make them?
  7. Thank you so much!!! Would you need a trailer or would they fit in the back seat of car?
  8. Can anybody load a pic of the Bunnings shelves? No Bunnings local so would have to be a road trip for me.
  9. Thanks for the input guys - so scrap the tarp idea. Now I just need to work out stands. Maybe I can get my hands on some old doors and prop them up on saw horses or something :-?
  10. How about a deep chocolatly brown colour?
  11. Kookie, how much for a dozen of those and delivery to Napier Oh, and does your better half take Visa?
  12. I need to pick your brains guys: * Okay, first off I'm renting so can't drill or nail holes in walls. I live in and upstairs apartment in town. No Garage, no back yard, LOTS of stairs. In about 2 months one of my flatmates is moving out and it has been agreed that I may use her room as a fish room. (My flatmates seem to think 8 tanks in the living room is pushing it.) This is wonderful, however I have a number of logistical problems. Problem one: The room is carpeted. I am not allowed to change this fact so was considering lining it with tarpaulins (sp?). What do you think? How should I go about it? How should I join the tarps? I need tables or stands that are strong but easy to get up the stairs. I know they need to spread the weight. I don’t have the room or the tools to build my own and I really don’t have the money to get them custom-made. This will be my first attempt at a fish room so all ideas are more than welcome. Thank you in advance. Keri Anne.
  13. What about dark gray with royal blue doors? I just did this really quickly on paintbrush:
  14. What was the father? If they don't have the red eye then they're not albinos but they should carry the gene. I would grow the fry up and cross brother to sister. Hopefully you would get some albinos out of that. As albinism is recessive both parents have to have the gene. Eg 1: Albino Female (aa) x Albino Male (aa) = 100% Albino babies (aa). Eg 2: Albino Female (aa) x Normal Male (NN) = 100% Normal looking babies that carry the albino gene (Na). Cross these babies [Na x Na] you should get Normal babies (NN), normal looking babies that carry the albino gene (Na) and a few albinos (aa). Hope that’s no too confusing.
  15. LOL somebody forgot to tell my two that, they're always at the front of the tank playing.
  16. Would they play nice with my 2 Panda Corys? ***Glances at other general tank*** What about with my Bronze Cory and his two little Albino play mates?
  17. Question: I did a Google search to see what these guys looked like and it came back asking me if I ment "Corydoras sterbai" :-? The pics I got for Corydoras sterbai are very cool fish... if thats what they are I'd be interested when babis come up for sale.

Well after many trys I'm got a really bad pic of one of my Dwarf Hara Hara. I will keep trying to get a better pic but this will have to do for now.
  20. Wow guys, very cool. I love albinos and I love my swordtails - albino swordtails would be the bomb. When somebody has some for sale please let me know I may have to do a road trip or something. Pics would be wonderful if anybody can get them. :bounce:
  21. LMAO The "more" goes without saying. Very cool fish though. :bounce:
