I love them in my baby tanks but hate them in my main tanks... I like my clown loaches though and they seem to like the snails. 8)

After many trys to get a photo I give up. Sorry Caper, every time I see them they're in plants and all the camra pics up is the plant.

I’m quite fascinated by catfish and the other night the HBAS had a meeting about “Tetras, Catfish and Oddballs†followed by an auction. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the 2 Dwarf Hara Hara (Moth) Catfish. So, like I do whenever I get a new type of fish, I went home to diligently search the net and get more information about my new babies. (How to sex, breeding etc.) To my great surprise I found basically nothing. These are beautiful fish and I want to give them the best environment. If I have a male and a female I’d also be interested in trying to breed them further down the track. Can anybody either point me in the direction of some good books or share information from their own experiences with these wonderful fish? Thank you, Keri Anne.

I know this is an old thread but I just got my hands on 2 dwarf hara hara catfish. I've been searching the net and there is very little info around on them. I like to know about the fish I keep so if anybody can point me at some info I'd be very greatful. Cheers, Keri Anne.

I think about the size of the biggest one sold at the Auction would do for a "small" tank anything smaller and you'd go into shock when you upgrade. I suggest you talk to Warren about your plans and ask for advice - his tank is simply incredible [and apparently earthquake safe ]

No babies so far ( think I missed the first batch ) a couple look ready to pop though as long as they don't get baby-bound which I believe was why the last one died. :-? On a differant note I've been offered some half-black babies and I have 13 baby silver swordtails (lyle-tail mother) My platty breeding is going well too. And then there were 5.... Just lost another albino - all water conditions normal - can only hope it's nature taking the weakest DNA away from me.

I've got 6 female albinos but can't get my hands on any males, if anybody has a male albino to sell and is in the Auckland area (where I have fish-keeping family) or is willing to ship to Napier please PM me.

Was crossed to a normal, so unless he caries the albino gene (unlikely) it should darken, right?

Does anybody know how long it take for the gravid spot of a virgin female guppy to darken after mating? (In other words how long until I know if the Female Albino guppy I have in the breeding tank is fertile or not?) Yes I know, it's been little over a week, I should just wait. :oops:

That's sad, have you tried putting her in a breeding net with one nice healthy male? Males do have short attention spans (Guppies) :lol:
