  1. HandS, I generally seem to get 3 drops of fry from one mating with my swordtails. (The females store sperm) If you keep Mummy away from other males for a few months and then cross her with one of her sons their should be a few Albinos in her next 3 drops. Albino Mum[aa] x her non-albino son who carrys the gene [Na] = some [Na] and some [aa] Hope this helps.
  2. Wow, I haven't been on this thread for a while. Updates: -The female that I tried to bread with that beautiful male got really fat then died instead of having babies. -That male was shifted into another tank and disappeared when I had to go away and trust the flatmate to feed my fish. -I have since successfully crossed one of my female albinos with a Blonde male with orange colouration... said female gave me seven fry and promptly died. Current count: 4 Albino females and seven non-albino fry that carry the gene. Fry are 4 days old.
  3. Keep trying man, you already have a buyer for males when you have some ready (points to self)
  4. A little more info might help us help you, what size tank what is in it etc
  5. Do you have algee eating fish in your tank, what pet shop did you get advice from??
  6. Tip tested, tip works. Thank you.
  7. Good luck!! (PS if there are red albino guppies on that wholesale list please PM me )
  8. Could a member of another Aquarium society sight them? Like for example if there is an Invercargill Aquarium society or something could a member of that or maybe even the breeding co-ordinater from there sight them? I’m not sure who’s close enough apart from Tammy (MRSkz) but it’s a thought.
  9. Only saw one when I was there, it wasn't freshwater though.
  10. AquaFever has a little puffer or at least it did at 3pm this afternoon....
  11. Oh no!!! Evil spendy demon is taking hold.... hide the credit card!!!
  12. Nah, flatmate doesn't leave for over a month yet. Might just buy myself one while I'm spending money
  13. Checked out Mitre 10 Mega in Hastings today, so much better than the Napier Mitre 10!!! They have the 5 level stands like Billaney suggested in the "stands for fishrooms" thread. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  14. Went to check out Mitre 10 Mega in Hastings today, they have the 5 level shelf but I could't see the 3... It's a lot closer than Palmy though. :bounce:
  15. Wow, that's a pretty fish You must just love watching it!
  16. Yes, but that will give you time to work out a list of what sorts of fish you want as house warming presents
  17. So will we all be invited to the house warming? lol
  18. Thanks Warren, may hold you to that. Once I've scouted out what I can get my hands on I'll start making some solid plans. If I went with kitset frames like the ones Billarney suggested I'm guessing I'd need some sort of "Foot" to spread the load on the floor, right?
  19. My mother spent 15yrs promsing to turn our old TV into a fish tank. But it got dropped in a move before the tube died, pity... I would have loved to see it actually happen. (I spent years trying to kill that TV! I'd switch it on and off all the time trying to blow the tube.) Finally got my first fish tank for my 25th and MTS has firmly taken hold. :bounce:
  20. Those are boys alright. Maybe your other boy is gay? Just hope he's not "The only gay in the village" Nice fish btw... nothing wrong with breeding platties... I sell enough to cover my fish food plus a bit.
  21. Will have to get over to Hastings and have a look... may take you up on the Saw offer at some stage.
