  1. It was great to meet you too Nymox, cheers for showing us around. And a big thanks to Livingart for his kindness and trying to not let us pay! Bdspider has a few scratches from that chicken, it was worth it though haha. Off to Napier tomorrow probably for the aquarium, looking forward to it.
  2. I remember mine having a few at a time, however they never reached the surface :-?
  3. I agree, bare bottoms are rank unless you're growing fry, your tank is looking good 8)
  4. I think the best one in Tauranga now is Kiwipetz, but not sure. And replace Wanganui with Palmerston north, wetpets if that's still around.
  5. perhaps a sticky should be made on how people can go about joining clubs?
  6. It's a good idea. My friend did that in her last year of high school, by the time she got to uni she was straight into second year as she'd done most first year papers while still at high school. Will look good on the CV too as it will show you can handle large workloads.
  7. The black arrows are the route of our first trip, we will be based in Tauranga (hence the excitement) and will do an Auckland trip second week-ish. Not sure how many days we will stay in each place, probably just as long as it takes. I think what we want to do is: Rotoroua-ey things (mud, wonderworld) Taupo-ey things Aquarium See Simon in Wanga Waitomo caves/land bridge Hamilton-ey things Coromandel Back to the business.
  8. Where do you go to collect them from? I'll be back up home in a week and I think that'd be a fun thing to do.
  9. I had a dream about making a tank last night so it must have been a good meeting
  10. I took a 3 year break while at uni, now I'm straight back into it and loving it. Feels so good to be back
  11. I've got two of these canisters on my 6x2x2 and they're doing a good job.
  12. That's a good flow rate for a 4 footer, however that canister looks unbranded and I wouldn't know how good the quality is. Aqua ones are also pretty cheap and have a good rep.
  13. Very nice, they sure are stunning fish!
  14. All of your tanks are amazing mr amano
  15. third time's a charm right? may as well with the money back guarantee
  16. I have it on my 150W halide, maybe that's the problem? Simon, that's the same one's I've been using :-?

    live foods

To be fair we don't eat the sheep or cows alive. I meant to put live vertebrates in my post earlier but forgot. I'm sure my lab demonstrators last year were saying you weren't allowed to feed live vertebrates, but live invertebrates were perfectly fine (according to the ethics people). Just a note; I don't follow these rules either, fry are great fish food
  18. Twice in a row I have paid the price for buying cheap-quality light timers. I have bought the basic one found in the supermarket and warehouse for $7.99. First one stopped working after a few weeks, but this new one stopped tonight after just 4 days! How can they sell such an unreliable product? Anyway, just wondering what timers everyone uses that actually do what they're supposed to and how much they cost?

Nope, used to have many back in high school, and then a few lately but they didn't do too well.

I think you're not allowed to feed vertebrates as its considered cruel (I think there's a law about it?) Personally I just feed anything, baby guppies just have to learn to be quicker survival of the fittest right. And as for larger fish and mice, it's only natural really and the fish will no doubt appreciate it more than some dried flake food
  21. He's getting 5 more on Thursday, but watch out I'm getting 3 of them
  22. Sounds like a very interesting fish, the fact that you see it so little would make it more exciting to keep
