  1. Knew you would Cheers Nav, I'll let you know if I need anything.
  2. I lost the bigger female but these two are showing signs of breeding. I think I will steal this batch and have a go myself.
  3. Brought all my outside tanks inside yesterday and decided to redo this pair's tank. and a quick vid of the cute couple (click to play)
  4. Yep I'd say it was the flourish that did it. It can be nasty stuff when using it to treat algae (can kill fish too), that's why I stay clear of it now.
  5. That seems very complex for just a membership card (still very nice concept though). I think all it needs is to tell you what it is, have the fnzas logo, and maybe a small picture. Pleasing to the eye is nice, but how long will we be looking at them after they've been tucked away in our wallets?
  6. The 150W'ers will be fine for 50cm deep and growing glosso.
  7. Nice! it looks deep-sea
  8. It's my L046 tank, no ones allowed to see it 8)
  9. Are you really sure you want to spend so much money on just lighting? This is a 150W metal halide and it cos me $70, you could buy 2, and that's $140. Plenty of light for your tank, and you save about $1000 (after shipping costs on that light you speak of). All you need is someone in the know to make a decent hood and you have a great lighting system.
  10. I like card 4 the most. Nice and clear, but also appealing to the eye
  11. Just a tad late on the reply, here's a bird's eye view. The side is way too dirty to get a decent photo
  12. Rams are pair breeders, not harem breeders so you could do a pair of those and a pair of apisto's. I think that would work. well enough. Your tank isn't really big enough for too much I'm afraid, males can have territories of 2 square feet and females 1 square foot at least (this is apisto's).
  13. I would disagree with this, you don't overstock dwarf cichlids to spread aggression, you will most likely end up with dead fish this way. I would recommend 1 harem like Jen has said, or maybe 2 pairs if you've got it densely planted. If you add too many species and one or more start breeding you have a whole heap of trouble unless you can separate them to another tank.
  14. That is excellent! nice one
  15. The hardscape on the tank in the video is awesome! If I had that tank I reckon a dull coloured schooling fish would be cool; subtle movement, replace the angels for wild-types, and add some apisto's
  16. two 150W halides seems like a lot of overkill for a 90x45x45 tank. I had a single 150W halide over a 90x45x40 and it was plenty.
  17. Niiiiice, trade still on offer
  18. I have a 150W metal halide for a shop fitting because it was cheap, and have that in a bit of wood screwed to my roof. It's about 45cm from the water level (open top) and the plants are doing very well, carpeting plants grow well too (tank is 50cm high). This light does get very hot (I hang some clothes by it sometimes to dry them when it's wet outside  so they will need a lot of free room around them or a fan. I've never used T5's before, but this was an amazing upgrade from T8's that's for sure. Open top does cause a lot of evaporation, but that just makes you keep on top of water changes more. I have had a few fish jump out (tetra's and a rainbowfish) but if you have floating plants or lots of plants at the surface it will obviously help reduce the risk. You don't need to buy a professional (and expensive) lighthood to have it looking nice either, bit of glitter and some cool stickers and it can look very pretty
  19. I could only find two eggs, both of which fungussed by the morning. I'm not too fussed, hopefully will get/save more next time!
  20. I came home to see one of my oto's almost bursting today and her ovipositer hanging out a fair amount, about an hour later I saw them in this pose under a leaf, got the camera out and up close for a photo, but too close! and scared them away, flicking 3 eggs with them . Alas, they were back at it in no time, and this time I was able to get a photo. There are a few of what I think are eggs on a few leaves that I will scoop out and try raise artificially (cories hard at work in the same area though) and see what happens. Anyway, here they are: Exciting!
  21. Last winter our bill got up to $550 with a wet back, 7 of us, and 1 tank. Now there's no wet-back (heat pump instead), 6 of us, and 6 tanks running so it will be interesting to see the next bill (last month was $500).
  22. Thanks Repto I can't wait to see it feed.
  23. Got a couple of snaps of this guy showing off to his sister/girlfriend today. I don't know what it is about these fish but I think they are very cool and certainly impressive.
