  1. Yep the aqua one range are great canisters. I've got a 5 year old one doing well. Gave it a clean out today, it just needed a friendly smack to start again but goes strong.
  2. Can't stop listening to this song Opeth - Ghost of Perdition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kenyBvpL0qQ
  3. This seems like a popular camera, nice choice and great pics.
  4. You can keep pulling off the leaves that try going for the surface, but that's a lot of hassle, less work to replace with one that stays small in my opinion.
  5. uh oh, that looks like the one i had. got to 4 feet tall good luck, maybe replace with a standard amazon.
  6. There's a guy in our local club that's breeding a few of the furcata's, you might be able to get your school soon.
  7. true true, ill spice it up a bit for em
  8. That's pretty cool, I was just feeding them colourbits before, I thought that would have been a pretty well-rounded diet?
  9. I just noticed that one of my female threadfins now looks fine, but she used to have a really badly bent back (was fine when I bought her, don't know what happened). I've been feeding a heap of mosquito larvae if that could be what did it?
  10. I love rammstein, and will be seeing them in less than a month at the big day out (can't wait!) solo is short but so sweet
  11. I don't know all that much about barbs, but you could increase the numbers perhaps? I think they get a bit nippy in smaller groups, and larger ones help spread the aggression.
  12. Due to the weird shape I don't think bala sharks would be a good idea, it'll look too big for the tank when it gets to full size. I think more numbers of smaller fish rather than less numbers of bigger fish is what you should go for. More impressive when you have different colours swimming everywhere.
  13. Rudd are classed as a noxious fish, and it's illegal to sell or buy I think.
  14. Yes it is, he's not saying to completely replace the whole light system, just the bulb itself for an energy saver. Makes the tank look a whole lot nicer instead of having a yellow tinge that normal light bulbs give.
  15. Starting up again... had a few last night and then a decent one just before that sent me springing out of bed to the big tank, just lost a bit of water but no casualties.
  16. I'm jealous, looks like you get so many cool insects round your place
  17. Dalton's aquatic mix on bottom then Dalton's propagating sand on top. It looks like there's three layers but the top "layer" is just the light reflecting off the inside of the front glass.
  18. my thoughts too, maybe with a motion detector? might sort out those pesky neighbour kids while you're at it!
  19. yea got half a brown face and half a white face now. Will have to plant some plants from the other side to even it out
  20. Good to see you take pride in your tank
  21. They're about 35cm from the water's surface. As you can see from the first pic in this thread there is a "V" at the top in the centre, that's where the light doesn't reach with as much intensity as the rest of the tank (still reasonably well lit though). The right hand side light isn't quite as high as the left one because the holes in the metal frame wouldn't allow it, but I might try force them through after lights out tonight. That will make the V a bit smaller. Any closer and it makes it a bit difficult I reckon. I planted some plants right at the back in the centre yesterday and got a hot cheek from the lights almost touching my face. But that's me being lazy and not turning the lights off or moving them.
