  1. I have only used JBL balls in sand and found them very good.
  2. Not eating could be a sign of other problems. If the feet are infected it could become a problem. Do they look infected or are they healing ok. Bit hard to get to lunch with no toes I guess.
  3. Ask in the wanted to buy section
  4. Culture your own lumbriculus. Cheap as chips. No problems and good growth. Very good for conditioning if you are breeding.
  5. Scammers don't expect to win every time but it seems they win enough times to make it worth while. 1K now and again aint too bad.
  6. Many moons ago I used to feed fighters pretty heavily on lumbriculus without any problems.
  7. Welcome and enjoy your time here.
  8. They are most active at dawn and dusk so that is the best time to feed
  9. What about the plant growers who maintain a high leval of nitrate for plant growth by adding ferts.
  10. You make what looks like a small mop from synthetic wool and tie it to a cork or similar floaty thing. You will need a few tanks to grow the fry out as you need to keep them of similar size together 13 litres will be OK for a few babies but they will need bigger tanks as they grow.
  11. Blackworms (lumbriculus) are the best if you want to breed them. Any live food if you can't get them.
  12. The tank size relates to your filtration and water changes, the better that is the smaller the tank you will get away with. They need early 20s deg C.
  13. Golden panchax are one of the easier killies to breed. I used to keep them in a bare tank with a floating mop, check for eggs daily and remove into a smaller hatching tank and feed on brineshrimp nuplii when free swimming. Your gardneri may be a bit aggressive for the golds and they will breed best if on their own.
  14. You can put what you like on your profile.
  15. We don't have them here but we do have Nothobranchius guentheri and the males can be coloured up at about 6 weeks
  16. Water has a greater affinity for O2 than CO2 so aeration is a cheep and easy way to get the CO2 out of water supplies. It is used often when iron and or manganese are a problem and being held in solution by CO2. The ionic state is altered, becomes less soluble and can be settled out. Council water supplies are usually not high in CO2 as this makes the water acid, corrosive to copper and causing dezincafication of brass fittings like taps.
  17. I have always thought that as important as knowing the subject content is the ability to explain that to the examiner. What you might call "examination technique". I knew a number of very clever people who were not much good at exams but did know their stuff. Teaching some of that might be useful.
  18. I don't keep native geckos but I know a lady who has 8-10 varieties and hers will not eat mealworms. She feeds them small locusts.
  19. He may have one and be in Australia with it. You still can't import it legally. If it is in NZ and you buy it be prepared to lose your lizard and your money. Stick to leos or get a permit for natives.
  20. Mouth fungus is a bacteria and needs to be treated with an antibiotic. It is also known as saddleback. Wundertonic may work as it contains ingredients that act as an an antibiotic. If it does not work try furan.
  21. Seriously. Small locusts are the norm I believe.
  22. There are a number of people on this site with leps so there will be a lot of info if you use the search feature and look at the care sheet at the beginning of this section. The next step is any questions.
  23. Would a change to the environment include previous alpha male being on holiday?
  24. Thanks for that, I was thinking of leps.
