  1. I use light bulbs on 24/7 and keep temperature between 28 and 34 deg C by using different sized bulbs.
  2. I built a cupboard which houses racks of draws--holds 15 babies and is heated with a ceramic heater and thermostat. Air is circulated with a computer fan.
  3. You can usually get a better hatch from the smaller varieties but they are a bit more fussy about hatching conditions.
  4. You can import a 1 pound tin hermetically sealed without any problems but it is best to reseal the can and refrigerate when opened. I used to repack into suitable sized sealed plastic bags on arrival then refrigerate. There are different types of brineshrimp so you need to get the one with the right sized nuplii.
  5. Red tailed sharks can get pretty nasty. You can get pretty friendly tigers but I have no desire to pat any of them.
  6. They are happier feeding when it is half dark and you are not around. Count some locusts of the right size and see how many are there next day.
  7. They didn't win by cheating, they won by having more money to throw at it. I don't see why we should pay for rich mens playthings.
  8. They often don't feed for a few days after hatching as they are still feeding on the yolk sac. I assume yours is older than that.
  9. Give me the paint any day. My cricket is louder than yours.
  10. You will be able to introduce yourself to MPI before your free holiday starts.
  11. Is it a chirping contest?
  12. I have had plants sent to me many times in a ziplock bag inside a cardboard carton and each time they have leaked and resulted in a soggy wet carton and a not too happy posty. Don't vote it only encourages them---don't ziplock they leak.
  13. Ziplock bags leak water. Use ordenary plastic bags, seal with a rubber band and place in the polybox upside down and the fish will not get caught in the corners.
  14. The airstones clog up and are not required anyway.
  15. That seems to be how they are bred commercially overseas. One of the problems with leps is that the males want to fight, sometimes from day one, and they frequently drop their tail as a defence mechanism and subsequently they are not as saleable. It takes a while before they can be sexed.
  16. Not easy to tell from the picks but my guess would be whitespot and the fish is producing extra slime as a reaction to that.
  17. Love the craftmanship and the selection of wood. Does your avatar get to play with them. It brings back memories of a previous life.
  18. I spent most of my working life dealing with people on lifestyle blocks. Many get a shock when they discover there are no street lights out there, they are responsible for their own water supply, sewage treatment and disposal and refuse disposal. Frequently mum is at home while dad is away working a second job to pay the mortgage. Many change hands frequently. It is a bit like those that thought living in a commune was a great idea when they came from a small family and suddenly find there are 20 people wanting to control the remote. Great stuff if you can handle it (and many do). Good luck.
  19. You need two chickens to make a fertile egg.
  20. God da clever lady---she make both at same time
