  1. IMO your still going to have a problem with the Angel Its more then likely to get aggressive and if it can catch smaller fish its going to eat them You might get away with it for awhile though I would still go for Cardinals over Neons Brad
  2. Congo's and Yellow tail congo's would be great The Angel is going to eat you neons and probably be to aggressive for everything else Id also get more clown loachs as they dont do well by them selves Id also reccomend Cardinals over Neons They look much nicer and less likely to get eaten Brad
  3. as long as you have plenty of aeration those temps are going to be fine Its really once the tanks get over 30 that your going to have problems Brad
  4. Sometimes Yes I do if I have to Though I dont catch fish out of tank for enjoyment There is a massive difference between shooting a deer at a few hundred metres and having to get close with a bow and arrow Each to their own though Brad
  5. I agree you cant defend against a fire like that Also that part of Australia has been in a drought for along time Plus parts were so hot in the last few weeks averaging over 40c for nearly a week Also I hope they find the culprits and they get what they deserve This is the worst fire ever in Australian history but the first massive one since Ash wednesday quite a few years ago If we could stop people lighting these fires which seems to happen everywhere around the world then we could see a massive drop in lives lost Brad
  6. I agree living in some areas is going to be in a higher risk And your right about changing the enviroment Over Millions of years these fires have been going through and destroying the forest but with fire and destruction comes life again Though sadly this doesnt work for us humans What has happened is a massive tragedy and will never be forgotten What makes it worse is they are sure this fire was deliberating lit I dont understand how someone could light a fire especially around a massive forest that is so dry you know for sure how big it will become Brad
  7. Meh guns make it easier Get out there and use a Knife or a Bow and Arrow Though the knife will be extremely difficult on Deer Alot more skill especially when shooting Deer Brad
  8. Not something I would have done either Though and I am not trying to place any blame on your son as I am sure he never expected it but even if I am not interested in swimming if I going to be right on the edge of the pool where I might get wet I wouldnt have my fone in my pocket Find out the name of the person and get them to replace the fone If he wont come to the party inform him the Police will be involved If he is a stranger what do you have to lose Brad
  9. Wow Stella Controlled burn offs are still done As happens every year the areas concerned are very very dry and huge temps Its not totally preventable though living in some of these areas are higher risks then others Sure more burning shuld be undertaken but with something like this where everything in nature is eared towards a massive destructive fire it wouldnt have made any difference unless the entire bush was cleared Some of these people who survived talked about driving at over 140kmh to try and get away from the flames and still they just made it Brad
  10. www.snopes.com Check it out and it will show how most of the common myths are circulated around the net Obvious fake too Brad
  11. Those Temps will be fine Just increase your aeration if your really worried Its mainly Lake Tang's that suffer from heat Brad
  12. They can be a very delicate species but I have kept them with a huge range of fish I have them in my Display 10ft here at the shop I stock it with around 40-50 different Varities and I havent had a single problem I keep Dub's , Moori Moliro, Chipimbi, Bulu Pt, Ikola K1 , Ikola K2 and I keep so many types with them and have been for over 4 hours Plus Venustus, Rhodesii as some of the larger aggressive fish and the Tropheus do fine with them and are just as good at giving it back to them Diet is always going to be you main concern but my Fronnies are growing very well on a Diet of Brine Shrimp and NLS Dub's are easily the least aggressive of them from the species I have kept Brad
  13. So back before they could be made in China I still stand by it saying the AquaOne wasnt a copy Its the same unit as the Via Aqua was being made at that time Brad
  14. Your gravel would have to be deep and undisturbed totally for this happen Its harder to achieve in Fresh then Salt Also topping up water isnt a Water Change Change means exactly that Change the water When you remove water you also remove any toxins When water evaporates its exactly that Water nothing else Your just filling it back up and keeping the Toxins How old is your test kit? If you washed your sponges in Fresh water it can help the Ammonia spike In the end of this Regular water changes ill lessen the change on your fish and keep them alot happier Brad
  15. I disagree the Via Aqua is twice the unit as the AquaOne They produced identically and come from the same Factory Plus the CF1200 name comes from its Max flow rate where the Via Aqua has a running flow rate of 750 Now these stats are exactly the same on each unit Alot of products are mass produced in China and then rebranded for whoever is wholesaling them I know if I wanted to import the canisters and I bought enough I can get them in whatever name I decide Imagine that The FreakyFish 300 I just took the 300 as thats how many gallons an hour it will pump at its Max Davy Kong sold the Via Aqua Brand for quite awhile before branching out into their own AquaOne brand The Via Aqua750 and CF1200 are identical Brad
  16. I would head for the 1200 as its only going to be better for you in the long run 125l Is on the small side though for 4 Adult Discus RRP I have no idea as im an Aussie but I sell them for $160 Brad
  17. Generally lead sinkers are coated with something that isnt great for your tank Brad
  18. The number of fish actually depends on size whether your filter is going to cope If ur getting an Ammonia spike then something has to be done to fix it Now your options are really less fish or more filtration unless you had a dead fish in there or dumped alot of food Nitrates are the end of the Cycle and will go up non stop unless you have a Nitrate removing filter so ts very hard to believe they are 0 Tap water generally has Nitrates If your fish have problems after you do your water changes then your doing something wrong Plus as your tank is a closed system and nothing comes out till you change the water then everything is building up Hence why U need to change your water Plus the nutrients and minerals from the water are depleted by the fish and fresh water will help them out Brad
  19. OK is the only way to explain those filtration setups As your fish are getting bigger the filter isnt able to cope with the load anymore Why do you change the water every 2 months? You are going to need more filtration I would suggest adding a canister filter as then you will be perfectly fine You shouldnt ever let that filter over flow Once the water travels over the filter media and not through its hardly working anymore Regular maintenance on this will keep your tank alot cleaner Are you sure Nitrate is 0? Brad
  20. Its actually not that hard once you get everything right I have had at least 6 different customers achieve it that I have confirmed The main problem is realising they have bred and removing the fry Apparently the Males have a more Horse shaped head If you have large river stones as Gravel its easier for the fry top get away from the adults One person who was successful had chinese containers in the bottom of the tank so he could remove the babies easily Ill get some more information for you all Brad
  21. I havent seen this dolphin enclosure but its still sad to hear they died FreedingFrenzy You say U dont mind them keeping Captive breed animals and its the same with your fish But you do realise they came from Wild Caught dont you? Plus they arnt taught to jump and flip they are just taught when to do it How do you if given the choice they would prefer captivity or freedom? Brad
  22. Pumice is virtually identical to Matrix One of the best filter Media you have avail. I would be using it no worries at all As is virtually porous you wont have a huge amount of dead areas to build up and suphides Brad
  23. They will breed quite easily in a small tank Though as said they take forever to get to a sellable size so they wont be cheap Also Comps dont come in a Black so if U saw black ones they might be Young Sumbu possibly But as said MAF wouldnt have a hope in telling them apart unless they knew exactly what they are looking at All you need is a dodgy Wholesaler overseas to mislable them Sure it happens all the time anyways
  24. Can you prove they are a Hybrid? Or they can be recessive gene like Albino's There are a few few that wont cross in the wild yet do it easily in the confines of an Aquarium I dont believe OB are hybrids Brad
  25. Its hard to be against Hybrids and then for these guys But either way its your fish and your tanks easy as that Though why are referring to OB as Hybrids They occur naturally in the lake in a few different species I asked Ad Konings about this as well and he has observed them
