  1. Methelene blue injected directly onto eggs will help stop the fungus spreading.
  2. levemisole works better. Sharn use to be able to get it but she is in aussie now (i think). Maybe evil can get some for you. You can try the vet at Jansen (Botany) or get the bird wormer from next door. ron
  3. Value for money, any Aqua one or Jbl is best. They all does the same job. If you don't do your maintenance and Water Change your fish will still have trouble and ended up dying even if you put a million dollar eheim in the tank. ron
  4. you should be ok just putting the cardinals into your discus tank. What type of discus do you have and post some pic if you can. cheers, ron
  5. so do you still think you got a bargain?? lol
  6. 12 ltrs tank is plenty for a fighter. They woukd like it better there then in your community tank with all the water flow. The PH of 8 and the fluctuation will stress it big time. Good luck, ron
  7. tank size doesn't really matter. What matters is good water quality and the tank is properly cycled. Fighters don't like fast moving water and airation is not necessary either because ther go up to the surface of the water to breath. ron
  8. Just took some photo of the fighters breeding eggs released by the female below are them picking up the eggs to place in the bubble nest cheers, ron
  9. Yep! 1 adult discus per 40 ltrs water will be fine. Planted tank with your cardinals, rummy nose, corys, ottos, good lightings. co2, canister filter with good media and twice a week waterchange and you'll have a happy healthy tank. ron
  10. Yes, make the water purple (very strong). Best to get a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide to neutralise it after you're done so it doesn't stain everything that touches it. It's only a few bucks a bottle and you d only need a few drops to do it. ron
  11. 2 tablespoon will do for 200ltrs. I feed tetra colorbits as stable food. One feeding of bloodworm and ox heart daily and colorbits in between. For breeders plenty of bloodworms. When feeding ox heart, daily waterchange is a must especially if you're using commercially prepared ox heart mix. If you have no time to do waterchange, stay away from ox heart. Your discus will still grow without it. Plenty of waterchange is the key. ron
  12. Hex don't come from ox heart. It's bad water conditions and stress that causes it. Feed your breeder plenty of bloodworms to condition them. Chrissa, put some epsom salt in the tank. ron
  13. I would suggest you get proper media. Well worth it.
  14. Mine average $550.00 in summer and $730.00 in winter. ron
  15. I would make up a stock solution and use that. Put i/2 a teaspoon into a 200mls bottle and shake well. Use that as your stock solution. hth, ron
  16. I use 1 tab per 100ltrs water and they never come back. ron
  17. You can always install a uv to your canister filter. Feed heaps so your fish grow big and no green water :bounce: ron
  18. Install a surface skimmer to a canister filter. ron
  19. Install a surface skimmer to a canister filter. ron
  20. just float them in the tank till the temp is the same or pour half the water away and fill with tank water repeating a few time till temp come up . Then put in the trap in the tank. ron
  21. Putting a fighter in anything less than an acre of rice field is cruel and unacceptable   The biggest stress you can cause your fighters are putting them in a tank of moving water. ron
  22. Not treating your tap water for chlorine and heavy metals probably is what is killing your fish . Not worth saving a few bucks on water conditioner and losing $$$ worth of fish and the stress. The white stuff is the slime coating of the fish and means bacterial infections. In this case Furan2 is the better choice of med to treat. Hope you're filling the tank with warm water when doing wc to avoid more stress on the fishies. cheers, ron
  23. I would say it's a she looking at the short finnage .
