  1. Can you treat it with Metro? When the discus is not eating, i'll treat it with Metro and they eat like a horse after treatment. Don't know if it'll work with native fish. ron
  2. :bounce: :bounce: come and get the other half ron
  3. You have some nice looking stocks to work from. All the best and keep up the good work ron
  4. If it was me, I would just drop 1 Era tablet in and save all the time and effort. ron
  5. They usually don't eat much or any at all during spawning and tending the frys . Best water depth for breeding fighters is 10-15cm. When eggs are laid, removed the female and leave dad and eggs along. If you keep looking at them or doing things in the other compartment you might make them insecure and eat the eggs. Being in a tank next to breeding rams doesn't help if they can see each other. Individual tank will be the best and they don't have to be big (1ft tank) ron
  6. they might have done so. Is the female still in there? Is there any movement in the water? See whether there is any eggs in the new nest, How deep is the water in the tank? ron
  7. Best to remove the female now and leave the dad to do the job. They will fight over the eggs/fry and can kill each other. The female will want to spawn again after a week or two and can end up eating the first spawn. good luck, ron
  8. 400mg/40ltrs water is the dose rate. Recomended do redose daily after a big waterchange for a period of 7 days. You'll have to increase the temp to 32-33 deg with an airstone for airations. A mortar and pastel is the easiest way to grind the med into powder. Add a few drop of water and grind to paste. Fill it up and grind to stir and tip into tank. It is also a good time to feed the fish at the same time. hth, ron
  9. Well done! Eggs will hatch in 3-5 days and another 2-3 days before they go free swimming. That is the time to feed them with green water or liquid fry food from lfs. After 1 week (depending on how fast they grow) you can start feeding bbs and MW. only a little bit at a time so as not to pollute the water. ron
  10. go to the vet at animate. you will have to pay a consult and they will sell you the tab. they might want you to bring the fish in lol.
  11. I would say they are dead eggs. Fertilised eggs are transparent and after 3-10 days (depending on temp) you will see a black dot on the transparent eggs which is the eye developing. ron
  12. When you say stagnant water it means there is no movement at all. Time to take the filter out and give the sponge a good clean and clean the impeller while you're at it. Set the outlet just below the water surface to create movement. You might want to check the ammonia and nitrite level to see if there is a crash.
  13. How long have the tank been running and have you tested the water parameters. Foul smelling usually indicate overfeeding.
  14. Cut the leaf and put it in a small tank, container....... Get the water from the com tank. Put a heater and an airstone or sponge filter in and wait for them to hatch. Meantime, fill a ltr of water (coke bottle, small container...) and put a leaf of lettuce in and put out in the sun. Get your microworm culture ready. That way you will have some frys in about 5 days instead of leaving them in the com tank and get nothing in the end.
  15. Why i was leaning towards getting it out is that my mum had a root canal and 15 yrs later she had the tooth taken out (root canal failed ) so i figure that just incase my root canal fails, i might as well just have the tooth taken out instead of going through the root canal...
  16. yes they will. They will lay in any tank when they are ready. Use to breed heaps of these before and all in 1 ft bb tank with a small sponge filter and heater.
  17. BB tank will be easiest way to go. You don't need a big tank, just a 1 ft tank will do.
  18. Be more specific with the location in your profile so someone near you might be able to pop aroundto have a look and offer advise. ron
  19. You don't run your bubble wall with a filter. You use an airpump. ron
  20. Depend on what fish you have and how often you're doing WC. I feed my adult discus 3 times a day with colorbits and bloodworm and I do daily water of 50% or more. For growing discus, oranda I feed them 6-8 times a day with daily wc of 80% or more. They are in BB tank. For adult HM and CT ffighters twice a day and daily wc of 30%. They only get fed on live food or bloodworm till their stomach have a slight swell. Over feeding fighters will make them sick and sluggish. Baby fighter get fed 4 times a day with live food and water change. ron
  21. I agree with alanmin. Don't guess and treat with med just because you think you have to treat or the fish will die. If it is fungus you will be able to see it quite clearly. Methelene blue don't actually serve much purposes. If you insist on treating I would treat with Furan2 again. You can continue treating with Furan2 for 10 days or till the fish recover. If I am in your shoe, I would just do a 50% waterchange every 2-3 day and a tablespoon of salt per 40ltrs of water. Feed once a day for the time being and take out whatever uneaten food after 10 minutes. I hope there is some experience fishkeeper nearby that go and have a look at the poor fish to see what is wrong and advise you accordingly. Are you a fish club member? Maybe get someone from the club to have a look. Hope it all work out for you and the fish, ron
  22. Instead of them greeting you why not greet them first. That way you'll get a greeting from everyone you meet lol. Or you can print a T-shirt that says " say Hi or i'll walk out" and wear it everytime you go shopping lol. For me I like to sneak in without anyone seeing me so I can browes in peace ron
