  1. Yes, like livingart, from the health shop in powder form. You can feed them with spirulinar and yeast.
  2. Best way to gut load them is by feeding them spirulinar powder dissolve in half a bucket of water first. That way you get live food and natural colour enhancer too.
  3. A tank with a 200ltr/hr filter is not suitable for fighters. It will cause too much stress for the fighter trying to fight the current all the time. Best to set up a normal glass tank with a sponge filter in it.
  4. Glad they recover and you didn't kill them  Agree with Amy on mixing the dose in a bucket of water before putting it in the tank. This is to avoid the discus sucking the concentrated dose in an irritating (burning)their gills and body. When adding stuff to tank be it medication or fertilizer etc.. it's safer to do the bucket way.
  5. Could be the colour enhancer in the colorbit. Name them Rudolf
  6. Put a bonsai in the tank and you'll have a mini tree
  7. Blurr or fuzzy eye usually is cause by bad water condition especially in heavily planted tank. Discus need premium quality water and it's impossible to get that in a small planted tank. Big water change at least 3 times a week usually fix the problem otherwise you'll have to treat with Furan2. ron
  8. :bounce: :bounce: excellent job in growing them up Keep up the good work and you'll be rewarded with nice healthy discus. cheers, ron
  9. No difference from the jar. They'll still be confine to the space within the ss mesh just like the battery hen
  10. A pair doesn't necessary mean a breeding pair or a compatible pair. Whether you like it or not, it just meant a male and a female. A confirmed breeding pair is a male and female that had bred before together successfully with frys being raised. More then 95% of the time you can just put a male fighter and a female together and they will successfully breed. The only thing you have to take into consideration is the size of the two fish. The male have to be bigger then the female to succeed. The female shouldn't be left till the tummy gets too big . Do not bother them when you're trying to breed them. hth, ron
  11. Very well said People always complained about not been able to get their hands on the rare fish. When the importer bring them in, nobody wants to buy them because they say it's too expensive. Some hobbyist will will get get either a male or a female and start crossing them with other strain (reason too expensive to guy a proper pair) thus butchering the true strain. ron
  12. :bounce: :bounce: you the mannn!
  13. They are loking better everytime you change things around. The discus is looking real good and healthy. ron
  14. Yes, it's normal to ship fish with minimal amount of water and more oxygen in the bag. It also reduce the shipping cost which is based on weight. ron
  15. Got my fingers crossed for you. If you can't move the nest, why not move him and reduce the water level. ron
  16. Pretty much all good advice given above. Guppy won't like the high temp the discus need . The discus will go after the guppy especially the smaller one. In short, 90 ltrs is too small for keeping discus and if you're getting small discus, I would start with a minimum 6. ron
  17. Name: Ron Sex: male Age: score my first half century 2 days ago
  18. I second that. Got that in all my 20 or so eheim and aqua one filters. They cost a bit but are well worth it. ron
  19. Do you take them for a walk in Hamilton garden too? They need the exercise so they don't become fat and lazy
  20. More beautiful fighters and more breeding :bounce: :bounce: Are you going to put the frys in your bath tub? That's the only place I can think of  ron
  21. I would do a big water change and add 1 tbl of rock salt in. In my experience they will recover very quickly with the waterchange. ron
  22. No you don't. All you need to do is Water Change. After the whole treatment and a couple of water change later then do a test to see if there is any ammonia spike. ron
  23. I would feed them before leaving, do a WC and feed them when you get back. They will be OK for a week without any ill effect. ron
  24. Thats good to hear. As long as it's stable it doesn't matter where it sits. Do the discus still have the white spot?
