  1. No! they're not the same. You can get it from supermarket.
  2. Just reduce the feeding and let the fish settle in the new environment. Melafix is not a medication (to me) and a waste of time and money. They don't fix anything. More regular waterchanges is the key to healthy fish. When the water conditions is premium the fish don't get stressed . The immune system of a healthy fish should be able to ward off diseases without resorting to medications which is suppose to be used as a last resort. Adding a tablespoon of non- iodised salt to 40 litres of water can help the conditions. ron
  3. The white dot on the head with fluffy thing coming out is normal on orandas. It is sign that the head is growing so don't panic and don't medicate because it is not a disease. ron
  4. 5 days treatment with pp without wc will probably kill the discus as well.
  5. I just take them to courierpost. Write live fish all over the polybox and tell the lady there to put some fragile stickers on the box. ron
  6. save yourself all the work and money buying all the stuff by treating it with era tablet as mentioned by alan above. ron

  8. don't think any of the fish mentioned will get rid of the hair algea for you. Only way will be drying or boiling it as mentioned or chemical (algea fix) treatment. Just through experience, ron
  9. Do9g worming tablet can kill your discus if not careful. Furan2 won't help your situation. Prazi will worm the discus if there is any. Metro is the anti biotic that kill the internal parasite. ron
  10. If it doesn't recover after the treatment then it's probably too far gone. ron
  11. set up the 50 ltr tank with a heater and an air stone. Put the fish in and turn the heat up to 32 deg. Crushed a 400mg tablet of metro and add to tank. Do a waterchange (80%plus) after 8 hrs and redose. Make sure you refill the tank with declorinated water of the same temp. Dose a total of 7-10 doses (after waterchange) good luck, ron

  14. Yes they are. Did you manage to breed them Paul? ron
  15. So am I, Well done, the time and effort spent on the tank certainly paid off. Now you need another 50 cardinals in there to top it off :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: ron
  16. Furan2 will be my choice too. Acriflavin is very hard to get rid off after treatment and take a longer time to treat. ron
  17. release it at night just before light off and hopely they'll be spawning in the morning. ron
  18. Water ager is needed for tap water. I always add water conditioner when doing waterchange eventhough I age my water overnight. Better safe than sorry. ron
  19. Adrienne, don't worry about the Nitrate and PH swing for the time being. As for the ammonia and nitrite, the reading is ok being so low. Just give the new filter some time to kick in. Being such a big tank there should be enough bacterial on the surface area of the glass, plants, gravel and whatever you have in the tank. No need to panic and start adding all sort of stuff into the tank. It will do more harm than good. Patience is the key to good fish keeping. ron
  20. Easiest way to get it from supermarket is to ask the supervisor at customer service desk. Other places you can get it is chemist and health food shop. ron
  21. East Timor is around Indonesia. ron
  22. Hey buddy! have a great trip and enjoy yourself. ron
  23. skinny dipping in your tank will definately keep your fish entertained and amused ron
  24. should be able to get it from your lfs. ron
