I hate the pigeons near my house :P. Wish my neighbours would stop feeding them. They keep roosting on my roof right above my room and making a racket stomping around in the morning, plus they kept crapping all over my roof :an!gry. Before these neighbors moved in we only had tuis, doves, sparrows and blackbirds, which were really nice. After they came, I don't know what they started feeding, but we started getting seagulls instead, which were tolerable, but pigeons have now taken over and I hate them.

+1. I hate pigeons with a vengance! Blenheim is infested with them, and even worse, my dad wastes a lot of his pay on medication and food for his pigeons rather than spending it on food for the family or better quality food for the cats. I've tried to convince him that they're just smelly repulsive creatures and that he should get rid of them but he won't listen :an!gry

Also the native birds are OK, the ones that tend to carry a lot of diseases are the ones that are really messy and have messy habits like pigeons, starlings and all that stuff.

The sprouts contain lots of different essential nutrients apparently, which is good for the birds. So far it is a failure though - nothing has happened at all.

Hey Joe, if the seeds aren't sprouting that can mean that they are dead (no longer fresh) and will subsequently have very low nutritive value. That's one good way to check the quality of your seeds - it they don't sprout, toss 'em (assuming your sprouting technique is good). ;)

They're the TopFlite mixes which are supposed to be really good quality.

The seed mixes that I used to buy from Bin Inn were heat-treated which I was told wasn't as good for birds as TopFlite which are supposedly non heat-treated. A lot of good breeders use TopFlite. Anyway the Bin Inn ones sprouted really well. Do you think it might be wise to switch back to them?

Usually quality is associated with freshness and fresh seeds will sprout because they are alive. I would be sure your sprouting technique is sound and if one type don't sprout at all, I would consider changing to a type that do - but that is just me. ;)

I have been painting and painting and painting and only finished one set of puzzle boxes for the international Kea Day, I still have two sets to finish.

This is the one set that is finish. The puzzle is nine boxes, the kids aged 5 to 7 must put them together to form the picture. There is four sides with a picture on each box, so they need to figure out which side is the right side first.

You're quite the artist thier mcrudd. Maybe after your done with them you should put them in an art gallery and sell them for $2000 a set

I wish  I think the scouts will re use them like they did our ship and dinosaurs we made, but both my husband and myself are no longer scout leaders because our kids lost interest in it and stopped going, so it just was not the same anymore, but the ship was awesome I will try and get a pic of it. It took us two months to make it. My husband did all the woodcutting and shaping and I did the drawings

I went to the park for some exercise and on the way back stopped to talk to a sheep and her lamb. I picked some grass from my side of the fence and the mother was eating it voraciously and stomping her foot after every mouthful to say 'more!'. When I stopped to go home she stomped her foot a few more times before giving up and snorting.
