livingart
Should I have the nest box up high, or low in the cage? leave the nest box where it is, babies will leave when ready looking good
alanmin4304
They frequently mate on top of the nestbox so you need to leave enough headroom or he may end up prematurely bald.

Joe
How adorable! Well done I currently have a baby Chinese Painted Quail. There were more - about 6, but they kept dying for some reasone. Last year when I bred my quail 7 chicks were raised to adulthood and sold. My Turquoisines currently have 7 eggs. Hopefully they'll all hatch.

northland chic
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Love them! I don't think I have babies in my nestbox, I can't hear anything but they are still sitting on them. I spose I'll have to go and take out the eggs at some stage
livingart
incubation around 24 days, but from 21 to 26 is p[ossible time from day last egg laid
northland chic
Thanks for that LA, maybe theres hope yet? The first one was laid 9/11, 2nd egg 11/11 and maybe one more on 13/11. I managed to get a quick pic of in nestbox and I can see two eggs. They started sitting on them after the 2nd egg. My mum in law told me earlier today that they will stop sitting on them after a while. So I will probbly just wait for that before I take them out so I don't get attacked. Will be a shame they have been such devoted parents but it is their first time. Can't wait to have little babies like firefish! :bounce:

livingart
fern is an interesting colour, used to have a cockbird a similar colour bred my first lutinos from it nice pair of chicks you may need an aviary as i don't think you will be able to part with them and they will both need mates in the future
firefish
unfortunatly, my room won't fit an aviary, and its too cold outside (I live behind a hill so the sun doesn't stay around very long. But when they eventually move into the large cage i'll post pics. I'm hoping that they'll live as a family group?
livingart
yes they will live as a family group but they will keep on breeding
firefish
Good to hear. I know that animals don't always follow the rules, but will Jade and Amber stay as a pair and always view their offspring as their offspring?
livingart
they should stay as a pair the future dynamics will depend om the personalities involved the young maybe a pair though
