NZ most dangerous dog

Recommended Posts

was just watching 3 news and so the most dangerous dog in nz is in tauranga, if anyone else watched the clip they would see why...

a few weeks ago i was lucky or unlucky enough to come face to face with that dog (work exp at the pound)

its kept on one or 2 wings of the pound as if any human or dog goes into the wing it just goes nuts and its so loud and jumping...

and to top it off the owner wants it back :-? :-?

I disagree that it should be put down - It has obviously been mistreated or has been raised to be aggressive. This can be rectified. Training on dogs (and cats) can work wonders. All it would require would be discipline for both the owner and the dog. However if the dog has bitten a person then the owner is liable and the dog will be euthanised as is the law... Not that I completely agree with it.

if u came face to face with this dog i think you would have a different feeling about it, it has already bitten 2x people,

in some cases re training can work, but the owner has to want that to happen (at her cost) which wont happn, and trying to find some one to retrain this dog i think would be very hard to do

why put it down? finding a trainer wouldn't be that hard. its just a matter of getting the dog out of the owners grasp. its these cases that scream out for a dog shelter that is willing to take on cases like this.

There's this thing called triage used when the number of patients is vastly greater than the available resources.

Maybe a trainer can help it, maybe not. But in the time required that trainer could possibly have saved a dozen other dogs. It is not an efficient use of resources.

My Dad has been breeding Pit bull's for as long as I can remember We grow up with these dogs and have never had a problem I feel its the way these animals get brought up that determine there behavior :x

My dad has one dog that is allowed in the house, bed, car even goes of to the beach over the holidays to camp.

His breeders are kept in Kennels Below are some pick of the dogs and one where my older daughter is playing with some pups Just my opinion !

i have found when dealing with problem pets that it is generally the owners that need retraining

not many dogs can't be retrained, it requires someone with specialised knowledge and time to achieve though

but in todays world this takes time which equals money

once retrained it will require someone else equally knowledgeable to look after it

so the easiest answer i am sorry to say is to put the animal down

law should be that people should have to sit a test before they can own a dog to prove they are capable of bringing up a well adjusted animal

mind you though people sit drivers licenses to prove they can drive, some are more dangerous than a bad dog

My sis in law has bred Rottis for ages and old Gonzo never had a probem... he was 10 years old which is old for a Rotti.

She was walking him one day and snap, a dog coming the other way was no more. Both were on leashes and both had mingled before.

Dont know why anyone would risk a kid (or anyone else) in the city

To me, its just not worth the risk.

Ive been walking up some internal stairs with the owner of a house and he said, dont worry about the dog, its been with my family all its life. Next minute I was a food source. 11 year old Collie

My son in law has a collie as well that is great with 90% of everyone that comes around to their home but the dog just dosnt like some people and will take to them. The dog is walked twice a day and muzzled almost the whole time. My daughter has a 6 week old little boy that quite frankly, Im scared for. Neither my son in law or my daughter eat meal as they love animals too much and are really good caring people but is it worth the risk

In my mind

NO

I to have a 3year old male pittbull and i adore him but because of there rep at the moment i am extra careful and dont allow willing strangers especially kids to pat him and always muzzle him on our walks i reckon if the animal can be rehab and a suitable owner found then a second chance but as stated above sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind and put the animal to sleep

I agree that animals, and people , have a right to life. But some dogs, like some people it seems, are just mistakes and the damage one individual dog can do to is not worth the risk or the resourses, sorry put it down.

I rescued a pitbull pup off a young girl, who told me the only way to train these dogs is to beat them. She had been told this by the breeder. This puppy was kicked like a foot ball and beaten.I knew what i was doing,i have breed staffys and still see some of those puppys today.will ajusted dogs.I grew to love this puppy, even though i told my kids i was not keeping it.Five months later the dog that we loved and spent so much on started to change,I could see it happening.I took it for a ride one day,and stopped to talk to a friend threw the window of the car.Thank god the window was there, the look and body languge my loveing dog was showing was frighting, there were other signs as will.I took him to the vets, tears streaming done my face,he new,he jumped up at me and looked at me im crying this dog had not harmed me.I found it hard to .justerfie having this dog put down but i did.The vet said because of the way he had been treated in the past and his breed,I was doing the right thing.I still dont believe these are bad dogs just bad breeders and owners. mumzy50

my mum and dad have a resuce dog. she had three owners before them and she was nine months when we got her......

we kind of live next door....

she is scared of men..... my dad and husband being an exception....

we know this...

we only let her run free if she is outside with us....

or she is on a chain... under the tree,,,....

she is walked every day mostly twice....

excelent with children and women.... but for some reason she hates men and will try and get them....

we know this so we keep her safe by having her with us or on a lead or chain..... often she will go to where her chain is even if she is not clipped to it with her bones and toys....

she is two now and we have had a trainer for 18months working with her and even after all this time.... we can't unchange what has happened to her in the past.

i think the dog in video needs to be put down as it will b going insane in that cage for 10 months now. with not being able to get out for exersise

I think the problem is that the owner will not give permission for the dog to be put down so they can't. I have no doubt that the bill for keeping it alive will be in the thousands by now and I'll bet there is no way the owner can or will pay it. Democracy is a great thing but it sure costs.

you take it rockapeller, show us the photos of it playing with your kids???

If I could house him, I would. But seeing as I already own 2 Pitbulls, I wouldn't be allowed to, as I'd prolly be labelled as a dog-fighter as EVERY Pitbull owner HAS to be according to the media...

If you ask me its typical media hype just to sell a story/get more viewers.

They say THAT dog is the most dangerous in New Zealand? Really? I have seen worse dogs on the streets with owners walking them... It's probably so goddamn angry because it's been stuck in a god forsaken cage for so long - as for biting the people - it's the owners fault for not taking the necessary precautions for a dog that has pre-requisties of aggression.. in other words - MUZZLE the dog before taking it to the vets.

A trainer could solve its problems. And potentially a different trainer. Some owners just aren't aware of all the laws regarding dogs... and are often completely irresponsible and let their dogs run free.

But if you guys think the dog should be killed because of the owners ignorance and stupidity - your opinion.
