  1. I think there are more people skimless than what we think. You can’t seriously class via aqua ,wei pro etc as skimmers anyway ..
  2. I doubt you will keep xenia alive for long under 18wpc as they like medium to high light. Xenia under low light tends to get long and under high light it is shorter.
  3. Here is a MM tank. MM can work well, however you do need a large sump and have enough Algae to keep up with the nutrient load. Maybe having a small skimmer with MM should work well. Most people using skimmers with MM find that their skimmers stop skimming. http://66.218.71.231/language/translation/translatedPage.php?lp=de_en&text=http%3a%2f%2fwww.korallenriff.de%2fmark_re_ansimi.html
  4. Xenia like medium to high light, will survive under low light but wont do very well. Also it likes high flow,
  5. Very cheap bulbs for $75. has anyone tried the bulbs??
  6. misnoma A Cowboy beat you to the lights. Dont advertise it next time.
  7. Looks good, come a long way from the hair algae, The corraline algae is awesome. I note that the deltec skimmer needs some fine tuning. close the air intake taps to the 2pm position. this way it will skim much better.
  8. great bidding war. It was a bargain, but no more.

    Ozone

If you use ozone you also need a air dryer otherwise the ozone will not work very well.

    Ozone

I have used ozone on my main tank, it really clears the water. But i found that it causes Nitrates. Best to use ozone once a week for a few hours. Ozone and UV also kills all the good bactaria, If you want clear water get some zeolite, make sure it can be used in seawater, When using zeolite the water goes crystal clear.
  14. The air intake valve should be set at 2 oclock, otherwise too much air goes in the skimmer which will cause larger bubbles.

    nice

stu has a very nice tank. Acros are growing huge.
  16. Only colour . You are no better off, However 20K lamps Dont last as long as the higher the kelvin rating the more the colour shift in the bulbs.
  17. Its time again to hold our bi monthly meeting. Last meeting went really well and certainly motivated me to do a few changes on my tank after seeing Cookies reef. Please email me over the next few weeks to confirm. [email protected] Location will be south auckland. Details will be forwarded closer to the date as i have a few options here is the link to the last tank. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?t=7538 what we will do is vote after every sixth meeting to see who is the winner of the tank of the year in Auckland. Winner will receive a pack of Aquarium goodies. Will discuss at next meeting. So far will start from the last meeting and hold a vote next year July. Will see if i can get the winning tank to go on Reef Central tank of the month.

    selcon

you could soak the food before feeding, i feed it to the brine shrimp to gut load them and then feed them to the fish.

    selcon

No they dont, so expensive. read the info on reef booster. it will do the same job. i feed it to the banggai and they have never looked better. http://www.prodibio.fr/anglais/reefbooster.htm

    C02 Bottle

no need for a calcium reactor with those corals, a calcium supplement should be fine or even topping up with kaltwasser might supply enough calcium.

    pytoplankton

I feed reef booster and reef solution. I only use 1/2 of what is recommended. as you can overdo it which will cause algae Only feed every 5 days . So far the feedback from reef booster has been outstanding as everyone has noticed that corals respond to it. I also not that the reef booster is great for gut loading brine shrimp. http://www.prodibio.fr/anglais/reefbooster.htm http://www.ecosystemaquarium.com/html/reef.html
