  1. Wow...MTS...really bad...
  2. Interesting looking fish...his mouth almost looks like an alligator's. I love the color of his tail fin. Is the long fish under him (last pic) the same thing?
  3. Hi limegirl! Welcome to the greatest site...wonderful people! What kind of fishie do you have? How many tanks? See...I'm from Sydney too....   ....Canada Take care & have fun! Caper

    Black Sand

Not that I'd be using sand...but wondering, how do you vacuum sand?????
  5. I was in WalMart today...checked the box for the replacement bulbs for tank....120 volts, 1 said 25 watts, another said 15 watts :-? :-? Anyway, I asked about them and was told 1) they're not flourescent 2) wouldn't fit!
  6. Not that I am aware! But I'm still not ready to try my hand at plants, but at least I can now say maybe someday...where as before it was always NEVER! Thanks ...I would hate not being able to come here We are on different sides of the world...but friendship knows no boundaries!

    He's alive!!!

    Glad he didn't "disappear"....I think he's a cutie! wow...the difference in the small/large ones.WOWOWOWOWOW
  8. Thanks...but would I have to leave here
  9. Not here  The initial cost of those bulbs is more expensive...but supposedly save in the long run...and I need to save! Yes Caryl I think you are right...it says the equivalent on the box, if I were buying for a lamp. But considering I don't know the size of the ones in the tank...on the box 120V...does that mean anything as far as how many watts????
  10. 2 problems there...money, the only reason I got fish yesterday was because they were bought for me...and, the only place that around here that I've seen plants (don't know what kind) was at the pet store...and the last time I was out there...the tanks were so dirty you could hardly see the fish!
  11. Yep...Canada's worst toxic site...infamously known as the "tar ponds"...the result of many, many, years of steel making! Sorry...off topic!
  12. I'm one of those people Klay...I could only dream of tanks like the ones I've seen here. Not much to pick from around here to put in tanks and for someone like me who cannot afford some of the things I see here...I'm stuck with the plastic and the bubble thingies. But, considering its the best I can do...I am happy to have what I have...with that said...when I win the lotto...I'm flying you all over here to help me create some of the awesome tanks I've seen here Now...important...HOW DO I WIN THE LOTTERY?????
  13. I didn't know you could put lead in tanks. What about those little lead sinkers they use for fishing would they be ok to use?
  14. Gee Klay...I don't remember what I paid for them...got them a few months now...and the store where I bought them doesn't get them very often...but next time I'm there I'll check!
  15. What the heck is that? The water....hmmm...considering I only live a 5-10 minute walk from Canada's worst toxic site...you never know    I do have one female platy (who was a male when I got it) that they don't bother with...and I do not want baby fishies...so I'm trying to steer clear of mixing males & females.
  16. Hi there Oh...you will get great advice here...the people are amazing and more than eager to help! I have "brown" algae too...but that's because I didn't give tank good cleaning...wanted to get algae eaters so wanted to be certain there would be food for them. I just got them yesterday so will be interesting to see how they do. I have 2 ottos in my 10 gallon and they do a great job, only thing they don't clean is one ornament so I take it out & give it a good cleaning.
  17. Hey Klay...what are you doing up so late...it is 11:12 a.m. here....2:12 there??? You can't get cardinals here.
  18. Hi Deb I have a thread here about my fishies...ah...acting...um..weird! I have 1 male guppy, 1 male platy, who keep chasing another male platy...I wouldn't say they are being aggressive in a "mean" way...but I think they have the "hots" for him  8)
  19. I agree with Klay...everything I read so far...all tetras school with their own kind, for lack of a better word. Although, was told at dept store & pet store that they would I had 3 black neons (1 gone to fishy heaven) and they didn't school with the neons...the odd time you might see them together, but school with them, nah.
  20. OK...so the size issue, "fit in mouth supper" can always happen then with any fish, right? But don't sharks get fairly big as well or just not as big as oscars? Actually, I thought you couldn't keep any other fish in with oscars except oscars????
  21. I like that    Thanks Caryl...well from everything I'm reading and from what you experienced people here know...it does seem to depend on the individual fish...at least sometimes. Do you recommend I get more though to keep them in a school?
