  1. I've been doing it the way the booklet that came with the tanks said. I sit them in the tank (bag open) for 15 minutes, then every 5 minutes (15 minute total) add some tank water...then net the fishy into the tank. Do you think that this was too short a time? It's how I've always done it

    Floppy Fish

Oh...he's own private "restaurant" So...how did you do this...take him out of tank once a day, give him peas...then put him back in? How did you determine that...I thought all fish would pretty much just keep eating and eating... :-? :-?
  3.  Driving penquins   AND that the mounties actually wear their red serges all the time   I'm the first to admit I don't know much about other countries...but the igloos, French, etc. unbelievable how many people think that of Canada...and...many from our neighbors to the south! Ok...back to fish! Do you have a large variety on the west coast?
  4. Yes, most of the water returning back into the tank is coming down the right side. This filter has no controls...you just plug it in! Darn...just went over & checked...there is more water trickling down the by the intake tube I think I'll do my water change today and take filter apart again to clean and give the bio filter a gentle scrub with a soft toothbrush. I'm just wondering too if maybe I have the filters not sitting properly in the filter  Thanks for the help Will let you know how I make out!
  5. Hi Hamish & Melissa MTS is an addiction This site is fantastic...really great bunch of people here, always so helpful...I know I'd be lost without them :-? When you get a chance post a pic of your tanks! Take care & have fish...I mean fun Caper
  6. CatBrat...do all plecos have teeth??? Gee, have to go read again, don't remember seeing that they have teeth!
  7. Are the 2 males in the same tank, because you should not have 2 males in a tank together. Perhaps one is being aggressive to the other, I could be wrong but those with more experience will tell you. From what I understand, 2 males alone in a tank will fight to the death!

    Floppy Fish

Are these all in the same tank...just wondering about the peas...so far I've only fed them to my goldfish.
  9. And don't forget...we all speak French
  10. I don't know much about them...but I think it is a 2 females to 1 male ratio...I think, I know that you have to have more females then males or else the males would be constantly...ah...aggravating the female I do know that you cannot put 2 males together...they will apparently fight to the death, am I right? But others with experience will verify all this for you.

Great news Melanie Don't remember if you posted already   how many fishies do you have and what kind???
  12. Glad things worked out for you and your fishies
  13. Moose Land????? Heck...I am Canadian and never heard that before! Where in Canada are you? I know you can't get piranhas where I live...not that I'd want them
  14. The bubble wand wasn't under the intake tube...but at least part way under where the water runs back into the tank. I've cleaned the filter (intake tube, impeller, etc.) a bit of improvement but still some water trickling down the same side as the intake tube. What about cleaning the bio filter with the soft toothbrush, opions on that?
  15. I didn't have any test kits at first with my 10 gallon. But was doing regular water changes, so if you keep up with that then your fishy will keep being Important not to add too many fish too soon!

  21. A tad confused...heck, lot confused :-? Your right Caryl, some of the water is going over and out the way it should...but there is water trickling back down on the side where the intake tube is. The bio filter isn't spongy...not like the blue on the carbon filter. Swishing it isn't getting rid of all the "yuck". I used a soft toothbrush to remove the worst of it...but was scared to do anymore in case it would cause damage. What do you think...can I used a soft toothbrush and gently clean it???? Thanks for all the help Thought I'd add this...when I had the bubble wall going part of it was under the filter (where the water comes back into the tank)...do you think that could have caused a built up of "yuck"
  22. Maybe that's a better way of putting it...when I said thorough I did mean right down to the bottom...going through completely with vacuum. I find the front of both tanks collects quite a bit of "dirt" specially the goldfish one so I do have to "disturb" those areas. But, when I was doing a thorough...I meant top to bottom over and across
