  1. Totally AMAZING Fay...wonderful looking tanks...congratulations
  2. Guppy.... tail fin...almost looks like a small section has been "inflated", kinda like a tiny sausage can't think of any other way to describe it...sorry  And now it's like that part of the tail is going missing...from the outer end going in...I tried to get a pic but he wouldn't cooperate! Anybody any ideas...checked out stuff regarding fin rot but doesn't look like that? Okay pics...but not very good
  3. If anybody could please provide some info on these, would be greatly appreciated! Read some on the internet about them...said they should be kept in schools, nip fins, and shouldn't be kept with smaller tetras...but other sites say they are a great community fish! I have 2 of them   . I was talking to a guy in the store who has 2 and he said they never cause problems and he has neons as well, and he has never had more than 2. Have I made a mistake? See the guy working in the store said that he would never get a sailfin molly because they are so aggressive...I told him I have one and he's fine...he only bothers with the other molly, chasing each other but never any injuries so I'm guessing just play. Soooooooo...I thought I could try the 2 tetras...was I wrong to do this
  4. Ugh...bad fishy! But Misnoma, after 2 years of not bothering him? So...is this an indicator that any fish can decide to eat their tankmates?

    Algae??

GeeTee, does your son have algae eaters in the tank. Just curious, I have to ottos in mine and they do a great job. The only thing they don't get rid of is a brown (was looking on that site, good site Polegra )...um...which I'm thinking is algae. It is only noticable on one ornament and every once in a while I clean if off with a soft toothbrush.
  6. Sorry about your loss Loopy Considering they've been tank mates for over 2 years...any ideas as to why now he would attack? What other fish are in the tank? You've had the oscar for so long...perhaps in time you can forgive him :-?
  7. These are the only plecos I can get...looked on internet...can't find them so far...any ideas???? ANYBODY????? PLEASE!

    Worms

I thought I read here somewhere  that you can treat a fish for worms with the same stuff you would use for cats? DON'T DO IT...till those more experienced let you know!
  9. Yes Ira...that's the ones! I don't have to have it match? Oh, I am not good at this stuff  Okay, example...I have a 100 watt incadescent light bulb in a table lamp...if I wanted to replace it with one of those...how would I know the equivalent wattage. OR just do as you say, get the biggest one I can fit? Thanks for the help everybody
  10. Why is this Caryl? I have neons & a couple of black neons with my guppies.

    Some plecos

What is the second last one? Will he stay small?? Okay...come on now...what gives...tell us your secret...how do you get your fish to pose
  12. But how would I know the watts???
  13. I'd have chiclids...live plants...chichlids...live plants OR just a mixture of community fish...live plants... ME...AND LIVE PLANTS...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...but I can dream
  14. I hope I am posting this in the correct forum  forgive me if I am not My 10 gallon tank has 2 incadescent lights, when I was in Halifax a couple of months ago the guy in the pet store told me I could use those flourescent bulbs...I don't know what they are called, the are not shaped like a regular bulb...ah...more like 2 loops...oh my, not doing a very good job here of describing  Anyway, I forget what size he told me I could get. The only thing I know about the bulbs in it now is what is on the box SLi-Lighting Item #77723 15T10/CL-120V. I would like to replace them with flourescent. If anyone can help me, even with my lame description I would appreciate it. Those incadescents get too hot. The funny thing is when I got my 2nd tank with the flourescent, I didn't like the light at all...but now the incadescent looks too "yellow".

  24. Beautiful pic...what kind of fishy is that?
  25. I was wondering about rearranging my 2 (darn, wish I had more) tanks. I want to do some rearranging, not just yet, maybe in another week or two...want to give my guys that had the trouble with the flashing some time to rest! Does this cause the fish much stress? And if I wanted to switch something between tanks (e.g. ornament) what is the best way to clean so nothing can get transferred? Also, I had removed an ornament way back when I was having trouble with the fish that were flashing, thought maybe it was the cause. Anyway, I had it soaking in Javex and water for the last few weeks. I took it out yesterday and rinsed and rinsed, how will I know if all the bleach is removed?
