    Hey guys

Hi Congratulations on getting your license :bounce: :bounce: Not much to choose from where I live in fishies...oh well, good to have you here! Take care, Caper
  2. Slappers...try some melafix...oh no, that's for fishies  Hope you start feeling well real soon. Ah....difference between coral & rock??????
  3. I remember you folks talking about these fish in another thread. If I remember correctly, they are not wanted in your waterways as they wipe out other species...plus, other reasons they are not wanted. But, if they can't get into a waterway...if they are confined to a pond, why do you want to kill them?
  4. Thanks Caserole Hopefully, the power won't go out...I'm just trying to be prepared just in case. Have copied and printed what to do! When I can, I'm going to get a couple of battery operated air pumps.
  5. Thanks...and thanks for your post....I couldn't remember the number of days with/without food/peas :bounce: :bounce:
  6. Thanks Mustcooktea...I was getting really frustrated and was at my wits end trying to figure out what could be wrong. Sure hope it stays clear now :bounce: :bounce:
  7. Looking great! :bounce: :bounce:  What's the difference between coral and rock?
  8. Sorry for bringing this old post up...but its the only one I could find. We are supposed to have high winds tomorrow so possibly a power outage. The temp I'm not worried about, I'll put blankets on tanks if needed. 1) Do I leave the filters both bio and carbon in the filter? What else do I need to know in regard to the filters? 2) How long once the power goes off would you start water changes? How much? How often? 3) How long does the power need to be off before this becomes an issue? Anything else I need to know? This time I will copy and paste into word so I can have this on hand :-? As always, all help would be appreciated!
  9. Sorry Shelley...did you find the ram?

    Brackish tank

Very nice How come you don't have the water up higher in the tank...forgive me I don't know about brackish tanks  What is the plant on the left side, love it? It almost looks like it is hanging down? One more question, on the bottom near the right side, what is the white on the gravel...is is just gravel?
  11. Ahh...wasn't sure where to post this...but anyway! Puff (calico fantail goldfish) had been having a little trouble with buoyancy! Was having a bit of trouble staying upright and turning on his side. Luckily I noticed this before it became too bad! I normally don't feed any of my fish on Sunday and Monday the goldfish get peas. I quickly went looking here for the post about peas and found the one that Mustcooktea posted Point is...3 days no food (boy, was that hard to do...poor fishies were STARVING  )...3 days of peas (one more day to go). AND....Puff is doing fine! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  12. Weird...my tank has finally cleared! The last couple of days before the next water change...I was almost scared to do the water change for fear it would be all cloudy again! Buuuuuuuut, it didn't even get cloudy when I did the water change...which it normally does...oh well, don't know what's different, I didn't do anything! Hmmmmmmmm....there was a new ornament in there...it had been cleaned and cleaned before putting in the tank (plain water that is). Perhaps, that's what caused it! But I also noticed, when I vacuumed there was not alot of "junk" in the water that was removed where as previously there was quite a bit. Soooo...maybe I was overfeeding...what do you think???????????????

    Hello all! :)

Hi WOW...you sure have your hands full This site is great...the people here are fantastic...I'd be lost without them. Have fun & post pics of your fishies sometime. Take care, Caper
  14. Gee, sorry about your fish Wasp...he sure is a beauty How's he doing?
  15. Very nice indeed! Ah...does this have a more "common" name...sorry, but is it a cichlid? I agree...pic of front of tank Tiles..what kind of tiles can you put in a tank?
  16. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Do you think if we bounce this guy enough he'll start to bounce out money? Ohhhhhhh if it were that simple! Glad to hear you go some new additions Shelley. You didn't put them in the pool though  Post some pics when you can.
  17. Okay...water not as bad...but STILL not clear Any suggestions...please I don't know what else to do! Darn, I can't find it...but was reading through another post and it mentioned something about plastic containers taken oxygen out of water. I put my water from the tap into plastic containers, add the Start Right...and then let it sit till needed. Is it possible this could be somehow making my water cloudy? Although, same water I use for my 10 gallon and it is clear, but then, I don't change as much water. :-? OHHHHHHH PLEASE...any suggestions? I had a another thread on this but got lost when server crashed. Can't remember what I asked then but...could I be overstocked? 15 neons 2 black neons 1 sailfin molly 1 molly 3 platies 1 pleco 3 guppies 2 WCMM 2 black eye tetras What if I put a bigger filter? Not that I'd be able to do it anytime soon, but just a thought, maybe?????
  18. Looks great...congratulations on a job well done
  19. Sorry, first time I even heard of it. That is soooooo funny     Did you get a pic?
  20. I agree. I have to use "Start Right" when I do a water change as the water here contains both chlorine & chloramine. But I'm starting to get leery about adding anything to my tanks only as a last resort and only after checking with the knowledgable folks here.
  21. Hi Chris I'm sure you'll feel at "home" here in no time. Nice looking tank, can't wait to see your once you have it set up. Take care & have fishy...I mean fun! Caper
  22. Thanks Shelley I can't wait to change the water & put the carbon filter back in...the tank is soooo cloudy.
  23. Sailfin update! The last time I posted he was "not himself" at all...really lethargic...so I started treating with the melafix. Within a couple of days he was back to himself :bounce: However, the fin hasn't completely recovered...starting to look like its growing back (luckily, there wasn't much gone). Question, tonight will be the 7th day of treating with the melafix (went with the directions on the bottle). It says you can continue treatment if necessary. Since he seems to be fine, and tail seems to getting better...I'm not going to continue the treatment...what are your opinions on this???? This is the tank that I had the trouble with it being cloudy...well, not carbon filter for a week and extremely cloudy. So, it recommends on the bottle after 7 days of treatment do a 25% water change...do you think that will be sufficient???? All opinions and recommendations would be appreciated :bounce:
