  1. You don't have issues with the turtles trying to take out the fish (given I'm sure I saw discus)?
  2. Any luck yet with the dragons, and setting up the enclosure?
  3. ..and don't forget the Water Dragons, especially near the Chinese Gardens. Remember seeing one just sitting on the side of payment right outside, sunning itself quite happily.
  4. Not a problem, when I was a kid family kept birds, so my mind instantly thinks that way, and after all an aviary theoretically can make a good home for a water dragon (just without the birds). Keen to see some pics after the dragons are in...
  5. Build an aviary like outdoor extention out one of the sides, for in summer, or when they want to outside for real sun.
  6. Feeling terrible for all of you in Christchurch affected by the quake. :tears: :tears: Also, if anyone needs some lodging for some turtles, and can get them to Wellington, I have an empty turtle tank sitting here...
  7. Poor bird.... :tears: Having bred birds as teenager (family had an aviary) this sort of thing was always my nightmare. What's truly terrifying is that someone would spend that much on a bird (galah's aren't that cheap) and yet never bother to do any research on diet.
  8. Beautiful Geckos Broms.... At some point I really want to go down the path of having natives......
  9. @Zayne Hope your chook gets better, if by any chance you need a smallish container to keep her in inside, we have a small rabbit cage (indoor style) you can borrow.... To be fair, all living creatures are full of bacteria and the such like (including us). [*]When I was bitten by a dog many years ago, the doctor treating it told me that in her opinion it is bites from other humans that are the worst, and where thh skin is broken infection nearly always follows from a human bite. [*]Cat bites are way worse than a dog's one too, my poor dad ended up in hospital for several nights, nearly losing his hand, because of a tiny little bite from our cat. The safest bet is once the skin breaks, treat assuming there is an infection.
  10. Our dragon doesn't have a true hide per se, but he can hide either behind his big piece of wood, or under the fake plants, which he does. So it definitely seems to be of some benefit, at least for some dragons.
  11. That is SOOOOOO cute, one relaxed dragon....
  12. Izzy at first would shed entirely, but these days it's definitely in sections, indeed he has shed twice now around his head, without shedding his main body. If there is stubborn skin, that is obviously distressing him, then a bath does indeed help... but you eventually just learn to trust them to get through it.

:tears: Feeling for you mate... My wife and I were robbed earlier this year, t took lots of electronics, and my wife's jewelery. However they did have the common decency to not mess with the pets, and that is more important to us... So can only imagine how you are feeling.
