    dropsy?

Dan...don't forget to let us know how your fishy does!
  2. No covered...so doesn't he run the risk of fishies jumping out...if they get close enough that is :-? 8)
  3. Yes Lyndyloo...you do for goldfish...but I don't know, does it work for all fishies??? When I thought my goldfish were constipated, I did what Mustcooktea recommended...3 days no food (hard to do)...then 3 days of peas!

    Stone-in-mouth!

I hope mommy-to-be does well! I often wondered what to do if they did get gravel stuck in their mouths! Especially the goldfish, I find they are constantly picking it up and spitting it out...wondered what would happen if it DIDN'T come out! Of course, I didn't even know you could keep fish out of water (oh my almost sounds like a part of a terrible pun :-? ) at all other than to go from bag to tank sorta thing What made you think to go through the gill? I have to see if I can find more on fish anatomy... ...does the gill open right up to the mouth????
  5. Congratulations for stating that...not every man would :bounce: :bounce: I was kinda scared to say anything, didn't want to upset anyone...but I do find you folks hard on one another. I haven't been into this hobby very long, but I believe it's like most things in life...everybody has a different opinion...and everybody is entitled to their own!! Doesn't necessarily mean it's right, doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong! An opinion is just that "an opinion"! But as long as I haven't offended anybody because that certainly wasn't my intention...just my opinion
  6. Dan there is a game in the fun forum...name that fish!
  7. Cool Dan...I hope there is a cure...I'll have to read that site you posted! And if there is, my apologies, for saying there isn't
  8. Believe me, I know how easy it is to overfeed...done that before :-? :-? If there are no other symptoms/signs of anything else going on, sounds like it is constipation..what do the wise ones here think??? If you think you're overfeeding, cut back...even when the fishies start screaming for more and jumping out of the tank to get to the food...hold steadfast and refuse them
  9. Good idea! I love going through the saltwater thread because I just love the tanks you folks keep and it amazes me all the "high" tech stuff you talk about...I think you are all scientists And please, don't take this the wrong way...but...geesh, you folks are hard on one another!
  10. Sorry, don't have angel fish...but those who do will help you...but from my understanding long poos could be a sign of constipation! http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/GoldfishPoop.html This was a useful site that... ...horrible memory...that someone posted here... I don't know if it would be much different for different fish but a excellent guideline!
  11. Hi Mitch & welcome :bounce: Sorry about your loss, and the symptoms you describe are that of dropsy & unfortunatey, like Lyndyloo said...no cure...that I'm aware of. Give us some more info on your tank, like size, how long you have had it, how many fish, etc. Take care & know that the people on this forum are always eager to help! Caper

    Fin Rot?

I know my test kit for ammonia does because it comes with a different card for saltwater...  ...but then, my test kit is probably not quite the same
  13. Oh my that poor child Or you could move close to Canada's worst toxic site...found since I lived here...don't see too many flies! I don't know if that is really why I just tell people that...but seriously, since I moved in Sydney not many flies at all. Only once, I had this infestation of house flies...but that was it! I found the biggest problem here in the summer is the earwigs...yuk...do you have them there? So...not just insectant repellant though...I guess you'd have to be careful with any spray, correct? We have those sticky fly traps here...just scoot over & get some :-?

    Fin Rot?

Good to hear Mustcooktea...keep us posted! :bounce: :bounce:
  15. Thanks Bill! Oh boy...I'll never reach that point! But, I did check my water before I did a water change tonight pH (this test is really hard to see because of the shade of blue) but anyway somewhere between 7.2 & 7.6 more towards the lower one though: ammonia - 0, nitrites, 0. As far as the filter, I did take that & give it a cleaning tonight too. I had a post about this sometime ago, the way the water was flowing out of the filter. The flow is coming out on the side that the intake tube is on, it was just a trickle but then more, so I cleaned it because the last time I did it stopped it, but this time it didn't! Gee, hope you understand :-? :-? Anyway, I'll try to keep an eye on my fishies and if nothing else develops I may to 1 more change tomorrow then see what happens.

    Sick guppies :-(

    Thanks for explaining
  17. Thanks Bill...another lesson learned...I always thought that flashing indicated a "problem" that needed fixing, didn't realize that it might be nothing more than an ....lol...itch! Any recommendations? Nothing new added to the tank. I'll be doing another water change later, but I'll test first to see if there's anything wrong there!
  18. I could be wrong, but I thought velvet...ummm... the fish had like a "film" on them...does your fishy?
  19. Caper

    dropsy?

Sorry...same here...never read where it could be cured...
  20. Sorry about your losses Minchton
  21. Holy cow...or should I say fishies! That is one huge tank...I wouldn't want to try to clean it A tank that size, you wouldn't be able to do water changes by bucket  I guess you'd have to have some kind of special system for changes wouldn't you?
  22. Sorry, can't help you...but I thought that rainbow fishies had more of a "slender" shape to them?
  23. Thanks suphew! I'm using tap water and the water here has chloramine in it as well. I just wanted to be sure that leaving it sit in the plastic containers for a week or 2 at a time would be ok. Thanks again
