Very nice fish and corals

I use plastic containers for my water. I usually refill after I do a water change and lately that is also when I add my dechlorinator/chloramine. Could refilling the same containers all the time be a bad thing? What about letting it sit for a week (occasionaly 2)?

Hi Penejane! I never heard of pin/needle tail before, does this only affect fry? Must go to a google search :-?

From everything I've read so far, the females should always out number the males YIPPEE :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: One of my guppies (Blue, male) and one of my platies (The Little One, male) like to give chase to another platy (Mickey, male) quite often. I did a post about it sometime ago & it was pretty much believed to be nothing more than some amourous behavior :-? :-? Even though all are males! But seriously, I think it is usually at least 1 male to every 2-3 females!

Hi all! 1 guppy and 1 (the one that looks more like a molly than platy) I noticed last night they were flashing against things. I cannot see anything noticable on them. They are in the 110L tank. I changed about 20L tonight. I don't want to add anything as yet. I'm :oops: to say that the last 2 weeks I did the water change I only did about 10% as opposed to 25%, honestly I don't know what I was thinking! Anyway, when I did the water change on the weekend I did test the only thing was the nitrites, it wasn't even .1, the water had just a hint of color to it. Could this be what's causing the flashing? I thought I would just do water changes for a few days to see if that makes a difference, what do you think? How much and how many days do you recommend in order that I don't end up with a tank that has to recycle? Unless you think I should do something else????

We are responsible for this tragedy

When I lost my first guppy, I think I was too late trying the melafix. One of my mollies had a small crescent moon shaped piece of his tailfin missing, I was scared after what happened to the guppy so I treated the tank and within a few days his tail was good as gold. With that said, I now have a guppy (has been treated with the melafix) because tail wasn't looking the best but no change, tail is the same. No worse, no better :-? But, I am guessing like all "additives" you should only use as a last resort???? Unless, of course, you know exactly what you are dealing with, would that be fair to say BlueandKim???? Mustcooktea...how is the neon doing? Any changes?

Then what will happen to the Great Barrier Reef and everything else?

How long since you've noticed this? Have you tested your water? One of my goldfish had red streaks in his fins...but it did go away on its own. I just kept watch for awhile to see if it was getting any worse, it didn't and as I said it just went away. I did post a thread here I think at the time but can't find it to see what others had said :-?

Glad to hear that your son is ok I used that "Cycle" chunk once...will never use again. Glad things are starting to level out for you Bruce_see. Those test kits are great, they are one of the ways we can monitor how things are going in our fishies home. I'm certainly no expert but I also think that your pH readings are fine. Those with more experience can correct me if I'm wrong but it is my understanding (unless you're talking extremely high/low) that as long as there are no major or sudden changes either way you don't need to worry so much about the pH.

Alan...I don't know if you can get that *blue stuff here...must look next time in store. But I thought Melafix was good for fin rot as well. How's the fishies doing Mustcooktea?

Hi folks...we are in the middle of a nasty snowstorm here..we were supposed to get 15-20 cm....now they're saying 30-40 cm...YUUUUUUUUK! These chillies that you are talking about...what are they, and are they only for use with saltwater tanks?

Oh my gosh, me love fishy, I was wondering the exact same thing! Especially tanks that the bottom is covered with...um :oops: stuff :oops: Do you folks vacuum or just use the vacuum to syphon water for changes?

I think it is just amazing that you folks can go to your streams/rivers...and actually see fishies that can be kept in a household aquarium...COOOOOOOOLLLL :bounce: :bounce:
