  1. Who said albinoes weren't nice. Who said they cost heaps. Check this out then. http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1137201090 Now to import some and get some money back on my hobby. Alan 104
  2. That's why I have snails as the clean-up crew.. They take the worst of it and leave nice little bundles to be syphoned out. Alan 104

    hello from tga

and I'm a bit further down in Whakatane. Welcome aboard. Alan 104
  4. Beaut angels Matt. Nicely marked. Which is the male and which the female in that pic?? Alan 104
  5. I'd shove in a heap of teased out java moss. Alan 104
  6. What Peg means as free swimming, is FREE AS SWIMMING, not jumping up and down. They will come right up off the bottom and swimin a group, normally. Make sure that you have snails in with the babies when youstart your feeding regime. Alan 104
  7. Fishsam, how about going up to the information line above these posts. Seventh box in says, PROFILE Click it then go to the Profile Information, sixth box down says, location. Would you like to put where in the Bay of Plenty you are?? It does help. Especially if there are other forum members or club members nearby that can help you. Alan 104
  8. . You say the above, do you consider the parts that you can't see. Twisted spine, twisted misplaced gut. How can you say that it's quality of life is fine. You have no idea if it is suffering from pain. It isn't a child, and I don't say this because it is a killi, I'd say it if it was a gambusia even, and to kill it you don't "flush" that is a cruel way to dispose of it. It should never have left the breeders tank, or the wholesalers establishment, or the LFS tanks, and you could do it a service that you should never have been put into having to do. Alan 104

    DIY Re-Sealing

That is NOT the seal that you have done. It is just the surplus glue from the seal (between the two glass surfaces) that has ozzed out and then been smooth off to form a pencilled corner. Alan 104
  10. Great to see you on board Zev. Welcome to the splash. Great to see you found the field to put where you are located too. That really can be a huge benefit at getting local aid for you. Alan 104
  11. Bloody hell, get rid of it. It is of absolutely no use at all. Sorry to be so rough, but come on. I belong to the NZKA club as you know and I'm sure one of our members could find you a better one than that. If you are down this way, I could even give you one as long as that one goes. Geeze it is one of the worst I've seen in my life. Alan 104
  12. Better still. How big are the angels?? Alan 104
  13. It is a risk you'll have to decide for yourself. Nothing like seeing a family group of angels, I believe that the fry do pick at the parents slime, but are not as reliant on it as discus fry. In about 10 days to 14, you'll have to remove M&D anyway, they'll be up to no good again about then, and the babies will go first. Alan 104
  14. To stop them dying in 10 days time, there are two things to make sure of. On is plenty of water changes and the other is plenty of live food. Live baby brine shrimp. That in my opinion, is the reason all those fry died at that age. Lack of both or either, cleanliness and/or tucker. Alan 104
  15. LL don't do that. Just get a length of airline and syphon them out into another container. I do this removal systen often. It would be interesting to see if the parents could be moved to their new tank, although I wouldn't do that. I'd set the parents up on a BB tank and spawn them on ther own, with maybe some danios in there as dither fish. Alan 104
  16. Combine your shipping then it will be only half. That trip is an easy one, warm weather and would be done over night. Alan 104

    valve

I know of a discus breeder wiped out by copper poisoning. I'd keep away from metal fittings. Alan 104
  18. Antony, just read that link again. Yes they are in Auck, but the dealer is prepared to courier. Put a bid in and see what happens. Alan 104
  19. u have pm Alan 104
  20. 50% water changes a day, cleanliness, they do do that for maximum output from the breeders. They don't need lights either. I visited an asian gentlman up Glendowie way somewheres and he gave us a torch to look at the discus he was breeding. A double garage under his house was his fishroom, all tanks were spotless. Alan 104
  21. You can go to bed now Bill. That took more than five minutes to type huh?? Alan 104
  22. If I could see him I may be able to help in some way. If it was an imported gold lineatus, I'd understand the shape as a lot come in with that genetic fault. Don't breed with it, obtain "clean" lineatus from a NZKA member. Alan 104
  23. Do what I do and see if anyone in Auck is travelling down. I know Wok did a pack-horse last trip. Alan 104
  24. They are not the same. You were wrongly informed. Ask your informant the scientific name. Then compare it with the link we were just given. Good link too, thanks MSP. Compare those fish shown there, then get back on here and tell us. Alan 104
  25. EK69, I think you may have a name wrong there. Don't you mean Chinese Algae Eater, CAE?? If so, forget that suggestion, those fish need to be banned, they will attack your fish as they get older, and anyway, they aren't much good at doing what their name says. Alan 104
