    shipping fish

When "posting" fish, make sure they are in a water-proof envelope. They cannot exceed a certain size as you then get a large increase in the postal charges. To add insult to injury, they must be packed in crush proof envelopes, that will not be squashed as they go thru the letter counter. As for keeping them warm, dunno, they don't make heat-paks that small, so guess you'll have to use priority mail to speed up delivery. Other than that BG, I think the answers prior to mine, will answer your question. Alan ps. don't even think of sending my guppies as I suggested

    Clown killifish

I'm sure the flock of clowns don't mind either way. They'll tell you in their own way by not eating what they don't like, or going into a feeding frenzy when they do like it. Alan

I am absolutely certain that we discussed that the other night on Chat TC will vouch for that, she's got some, and they are loving what she is feeding them. Alan
  10. That's all white but a bit of a yolk ! POL, just treat them like any, or almost any, other cichlid. They will both defend and fan the eggs, dig pits, and beat the snot out of any intruders. Including you. So watch ya hand if ya put it in the tank, they CAN break the skin. OUCH ! Alan ps. goodluck Al.

  13. That works all the time Krib. If it's not what you had hoped for, then it wasn't meant to be. Just start again, and see if you can improve on something. But keep the main ingrediant. Alan

    Angel Eggs

Krib, is that 7 days from laying the eggs?? Alan
  15. It's not the oxy that is reduced. Just the pressure in the bags. I've seen fish arrive at wholesalers, the same as when they left the exporter, and those bags were tight. Undo them, and it was positive pressure. Meaning the air that came out, came out in a gush. Can tell if there are smokers in the packing room too. Alam
  16. Check ya pH and then check the pH from whence ya got them. I'm told they don't like big variations Alan
  17. Are you trying to tell me that the radio I turn on in my fish room for the fish to listen to, has been a waste of time?????????? I hope not. Alan
  18. I prefer to run my fingers thru the gravel with the filtration turned off. Leave 1/4 hour to settle then use the gravel vac, plunging it down into the gravel very systematically. To do this in a 600 x 300 x 300 usually takes a 15lt. bucket out. Alan
  19. Depends if you like the taste or not. Most people only do it once. As for water changes, by the time you have used the gravel-vac across all the bottom, it works out to about 10% weekly if you are being good. Slip a bit down the scale as the weeks go by without w/changes. Alan
  20. Marty wouldn't recognize "aunty," Caryl. It has to be the one. Have you got that AW in your archives caryl It's a blue cover. Alan
  21. If they travel on the plane they will surely die. At that altitude it is extremely cold. But On the other-hand, if they were in the plane, they will be fine. Lot warmer there. That's how they come to NZ, and there is no internal customs, well not yet anyway, wait for it. Alan
