Learn from your mistakes. Information isn't given here without some experiance. START AGAIN. I just lost a tank I had for years. Finally gave up under the strain. 1.2x.600x.600, thickness of glass, 6mm. The fault of too thin glass, was the front exploding, not just cracking. Glad I wasn't there. Wot fish and how many are in the tank?? If u have a low load, you wont need any aeration, BUT if you are going for filtration, wots wrong with an U/G filter or a sponge filter, niether of these are baby eaters. Alan

For a start you will need a male and female guppy of your choice. Now a male guppy may not be neccessary, as most females come already impregnated for you But for you to be able to do line breeding, THAT, is a whole different story. A "guupy-trap" is a small container that floats or is clipped to the inside of the main tank. Can you imagine the stress that a fat, pregnant guppy is going thru, then being imprisoned in one of these. From eg 300x300x600 to a container 150x100x100. It makes a perfect place for mummy gups to have an abortion. Don't touch them. Oh by the way. What size is this ONE tank? I do guppies in a 200x200x300 tank quite successfully, just mum on her own. Catchya betta in a net. Keep it in the net out of the water. Put a drop of methalyene blue on the offending spot. Don't get any in the gill area. Keep the fish out for a minute or more Release into tank. Alan

You could strip an African faster than an African Cichlid. Lot less to worry about. Alan

Not sure where it is David, but you have an excellent gravel supply in Hamilton. Can't think of their name but I'm sure Rob could put you on the right track. They dredge it from the main sewer line that runs thru your city and then screen it to different sizes. Alan

Can't excuse the pixs Matt, they are hidden with a white square red cross. My Keyholes were free swimming in 7 to 8 days. Tey hatch in about 2.5 days and the parents are pit diggers and will move them around the tank. If they get harrassed too much Mum and Dad will have a snack. The tetras are the main ones to put a muzzle on. Any chance they get they'll try for it. To do them in a community tank, you'd need a reasonable amount of cover to slow up the attacks of the preds.. Theparents share the egg and baby care, and don't panic at hatching time, they "chew" them out of the egg shell. Just pray they don't enjoy the taste. One good thing if they do tho. Being a bacterial killer, do you realize that you now have a tank that will have to re-cycle. It can't tell the diff between the goodies and the baddies, so be warned. Also by using it, you can help develop a bacteria that is a "SUPER", means ya can't zap it with normal means, it has become resistant. Alan
