As far as I know, only the V. gigantica is illegal. Anything that is "long, very long", sounds like it could qualify as such. SSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH ! ! ! Alan

And you were worried about them being culled. As for digging. Is the pope catholic? Alan ps. check with frans to see if he still has a couple left there He's had them for close to three years Would have had more, but I bought some to - - - , oh well, those that know me, know why  Al

Contemplate Grass-hopper Why Would Someone Give Them To You? IMHO, one of the hardest cichlids there is Even makes an Oscar cringe. Alan
  13. Alan replied to Bilbo's topic in Technical
Bilbo, is the water that comes from this, at any time in touch with zinc,(galvanising), or copper? Any oxidising metal contacts? If so, it will not be suitable for a fish tank. Alan
  14. These are definately a seasonal fish The breeders seem to sell all their off-spring, and that creates a shortage. You can pick them up from breeders, if you are nice, for $1. BUT, I have seen them in the LFS for $4.50 IMHO, a complete rip-off. Alan
  15. Bill, one thing I never did was to keep a record of what I spent. The sooner I forgot about it. The better. If I had of kept records, I would have given up long ago. I think. mmmmmmmmmm Maybe I wouldn't have ,, but mmmmmmmm  Alan
  16. Oh, No You're NOT That's not we said VW Read about "cycling tanks" Alan
  17. Just depends who's looking after them. Alan
  18. What colour are your mollies? and what are the platies? They will probably be the fish that they look most like. Although with the cross breeding, throw-backs in colouratation can be expected as well. Alan
  19. Alan replied to Susi's topic in Beginners Corner

With you're expertise of using your camera Kim. Do you think you could go and get a snap of them and email a pic?? I may be able to help. Could put it up on the board, and some others can try as well. Alan
  21. When I have finished here amazonian, I'll come down and help ya From another wrinkly Alan
  22. Alan replied to David R's topic in Freshwater
Yes David R, Don't mention them on this forum. I believe you have to have a permit to keep them, and it's illegal to keep, breed or sell them or shift them from any water way, or pond, or lake, in NZ. If you catch them from a lake, you can not [legally] return them alive again to the water. So, Why not just get a whole lot of guppy females and breed them. They aren't vicious like the gambusia, which by the way is their tax. name. Alan
  23. Definately the angels are a hazard Sue. Have lotsa cover for then to hide in and under Alan
  24. You have a little to learn fins about breeding. The babies love finding gaps to squeeze thru I've even seen fish on the opposite side, suck the babies thru. The joint between the divider and the front and back and under, HAS to be baby-proof Alan
  25. And the babies?? Alan
