  1. It's already being enforced. I was told by 1 importer that they had to destroy some of there import as the fish were no longer on the list.
  2. At the time I was wondering why it was taking so long to take the pic of Tim and I, then I saw why ---- that wok will pay - oh yes his turn will come next year  Fantastic pic's of a really good time. Thanks again Caryl
  3. I'm in the same boat. I only ever got 1 male and out crossed it. The fry from that are identical in colour pattern to the original male although not albino or blonds for that matter. They are about to drop very soon and I'm keeping a close eye on them hoping not to miss the signs and lose the spawn to hungry parents.
  4. I think it was something to do with the rice wine

    live foods

People normally grow there own as you are doing with the same success - just enough to feed now and then. They are often found in large numbers in polluted areas so it is likely the main food source for them in those conditions is bacteria, hence why they are seen with there heads waving above the mud searching for food as it passes. I have a few ideas but don't know whether they would work but either way an out side pond of sorts would be needed. I am not prepared to share them openly as they are untested.

    Walkeri

I did know there were some around a couple of years a go but couldn't get my hand on a pair.
  8. Like all the others I also had a great time. I was almost rolling on the floor after Paul play horsey with his chair. A big thank you to the organisers Kerri Anne, as that nasty security guard sent me around 4 or 5 time ( I can't remember after finishing off the rice wine ) I would have to say you can keep that jelly fish and if you can't get rid of it I suggest you dig a deep hole.
  9. Yeah it is very hard at that size, when the body(not including tail) is 4 or 5cm you will be able to tell from bristle = male or lack of = female. If you really want a pair your best bet is to buy 8 or 10 that will give a 99% chance of getting at least 1 of each sex.
  10. You didn't say how small these b/n are? common b/n females will never grow bristles, there are a few species of bushy nose b/n around where the female does have bristle but only around the lip.
  11. They should be ok in there, I would be worried if the Krib's breed as the killies would go for the fry and get beaten up, the dwarf G may also be a problem as they can sometime be temperamental to some fish, the only way you will know for sure is give them a go - just like any new fish.
  12. Ant's are a good food for killies. Some like Chromaphyosemion biteaniatum eat ants as an important food source in the wild. Blue gularis are hungry pigs they will eat almost anything.
  13. I would like to make it clear I unreservedly apologise for said    and revoke said statements of agreement with that cheeky/lovely/cheeky ---Stu pulls his hair out he can't win
  14. Yes you should look for a double red female if you want the off spring to look like there dad, however you may have to take what you can find. If that's the case choose the most colourful female.
  15. Yep, your agassizi is the double red colour form - a very nice one at that. Hands is your best bet for trifasciata at present.
  16. I have keep and breed rainbows before, so know there behavior and I am the guy that bought the original breeding stock of blue gularis from which the t/m seller's breeding stock originated. As for your question... Hard to say it's not a clear cut thing, it depends on the set of your tank and If you pay attention to whether the killies are getting the food they need - they could be just fine and a nice addition. They are a fish that can become more of a pet then just a fish in a tank.
  17. Most Aquarium meaty foods, a good flake that kind of thing + live or frozen insects. They are confident and bossy fish however they are also soft bodied so do not react well to being pushed around, I would not call them aggressive.
  18. They are incline to hang around either the top or bottom. Good question, I have never really thought about it, SJO's tend to hang around - where as rainbows tend to be very active. SJO's like their food but the nature of rainbows may push them off it?? SJO's = Fundulopanchax sjoestedti = Blue gularis = King of killies.
  19. I agree with Carly, Although if you have Nothobranchius they may be a little thin on your return, a good feed up will have them right as rain in know time.
  20. Dixon wrote That question is to general as there are many types of Killies. As for F. nigerianus they would prefer a planted tank gravel or sand substrate does not matter. However if you were breeding them then they would be perfectly happy in an unplanted tank with only a sponge filter and spawning mop, it's also easier to keep clean. An ideal set up allowing for both (nice looking tank and spawning)with in the tank size mentioned would be a gravel substrate with grass type plants around the sides/back leaving most of the tank open. This will leave space in the middle for a spawning mop which they will prefer to spawn in over grass type plants, eggs will also be found just under the gravel surface and could be collected during a gravel siphon. Hope that answers you question.
  21. Sorry to put a pock in but it is my job... Fundulopanchax nigeriatum gardneri or gardneri nigeriatum is no longer a valid name, it's changed to Fundulopanchax nigeriastus. In saying that the tank would be perfect for them, they're a really nice killi.

It sounds like the data base book may be what your after, however it may simply be cheeper to buy membership to the data base as it is continually updated. I have know idea how much it costs though. It said the purpose of the book was for people who like something to hold.

Hi Barrie They are great but do not contain very much data at all. You could look here http://www.killi-data.org/book.php
