Yes I plan to vacuum tomorrow with a water change. I use Bioclean and BioDigest with some Zeovit products. For a newish tank and 25% new rock this is about as bad as it has got.

No flash... worse with the flash on. I love my Trigger... got him when he was real small. I have 3 shrimp and he has never touch them. He is the one that was locked in a cave after a move for two weeks, I put a coral at the entrance and could not find him. I assumed he was a moving loss. Then one day I saw a bit of blue (tail) sticking out around the coral, moved the coral and a skinny trigger appered. Sitting in a cave smelling food for 2 weeks. Too big for the cave now. Notice.... all the white spot has gone. PB Tang was covered for weeks. Doing nothing works and is harder than adding everything. After all we feel better doing somthing to help even if it kills the little buggers. Human nature.

  12. Thanks everyone but I contacted Med chem about a 1000l tank (great idea thanks) which I will chop the top off. Steve you may not want me doing this to yours. I also contacted Greg who will make a new sump for me so my tank and sump will be spare to set up... full syphin I recon.
  13. Fay thanks what size is the tank?
  14. Our house is on the market which means I'll be moving soon. I hope to be moving 10min down the road. Current tank about 900L I need to setup the the tank in the garage, using another tank or suitable container. This will allow me to build a box outside like Steve and Cracker for the sump and equipment etc. I'll will then be able to position the tank and get all the plumping ready. I will build a timber frame in the garage to hang the lights but are at a loss about a suitable tank without spending heaps on a new tank. The garage setup will need to last for a month plus depending how long it takes to get the lounge and sump box sorted. Any ideas? - never moving again....

I think the water top was the best thing I have done to my tank to make looking after it easy. Next would be the calcum reactor - once set has been trouble free, was a pain to start with but great now. I add mag / ca every couple of weeks as an additive if needed.

So Reef if you use NSW in your tank the problem will never go away?
  19. Ah the generator is also for power back up and it good to run it every couple of weeks. Other wise when you need it it won't go. The hose is about 4m. There is a plastic container shop on Nelson st - Penrose which sell 20l and 25l containers. $13 for the 20L. I collect 200l at a time once a month.

I made mine... quite simple. You will need to get an electrician to wire up some relays etc. 1 x Small ehim pump - Jansens $39 1 x 20L container -free 2 x Level switches - water solutions $40 each 1 x 240v ac solenoid - water solutions $95 Get a 20L container and mount a level switch at the top of the container. It will turn on a solenoid connected to the water tap. Filter in line. Mount the other level sensor in your sump at the right level. When the level switch drops in your sump it will turn on the pump in the 20L container. Easy. I have a button which I press that turns on the tap solenoid and allows water to flow in to the 20l container and turn off when fill. I use this method so it can't flood my tank with fresh water. I press the button every few days
  21. My wife rang on Friday to say the Copperband was stuck in the stream. Just when things were going well. Goodbye little friend - enjoy the ocean in the sky.
  22. I thought I would share my water collection method. I use a 800w generator from Super Cheap $100 + a L6 pump conected to a long hose, put the pump in to water and start the gen and bingo, fill all my containers and go home. Nice and simple.
  23. My Copperband will not touch apstasia if it is too big. All the small ones are gone. He will only eat brine shrimp but I'll keep trying.
