Thanks tel.... where to from here? I guess is just let it go and hope for the best.
  2. Sorry to hear about your fire shrimp, dam anoying when things like that happen. Like throwing $$$ in to a fire. Thats what the wife thinks anyway. Yes you are very luck with your CB as most die.
  3. CB feeding system. Works good but I have to feed the other fish at the same time, my trigger know this delivers food and hes a pig'> Works good but I have to feed the other fish at the same time, my trigger know this delivers food and hes a pig

WS seems to have gone, only a couple of small spots on my Powder Blue's fin but thats it. I have finally got the temp stable, 1deg is all it moves now. I think this may have helped. And Yes the wife has put her foot down and I'm not allowed to buy anything for a while.....except..... I will consider myself luckey if this is as bad as it gets.
  5. Wasp froze some mussel today and the CB ate a little bit so its all good. Does not eat a lot but does eat, I wixed it with some brine.
  6. Very nice. Can you take another picture from back further? Just want to see how the look. thanks
  7. Brine. Small little shrimp much smaller than Mysis.
  8. Added Copper Band in the weekend, might have started my white spot problem. Anyway as usual the copper band is not eating. I tried a syringe cable tied on to a long piece of pipe and used a stick through another piece of pipe to push the end of the syringe and target feed the CB with Brime and bingo he's eating it.. he sits in the corner and I move the syringe close and slowly dispenece the brime.

Well everything has been going well with no sign of WS and bingo... Powder Blue is covered. Blue Tang also has a bit, temperature is moving 3deg a day / night. I have now added temp controller so this should improve. Any advice? 1) Don't add anything for 3months. 2) Feed garlic? - any one use this method? 3) Fresh water dip - bit late I think. 4) Remove and copper dip? 5) Wait, pray and do nothing? Which is the best option? 1&5
  10. It would not be a good look if the water bag containing the fish in your pants burst while sitting on the plane..
  11. My yellow leather is not looking it's best since I have added it to the new tank. It opens up for a few days now and then but is staying closed for longer periods. It is next to a standard and yellow finger leather which are doing very well and have grow heaps. Under mainly T5 light which is the same as my old tank were it was going nicley. It has two 6100 blasting on and off from 1m away. As stated everything else is doing fine. I have 2 x 250w MH at the rear of the tank and 4 x T5's at the front of the tank. All my hard corals are under MH while the softs are under T5's. Hammers etc are under the streams and soft corals which like current are at the other end of the tank. I am assuming yellow corals like current as it was getting blasted (closer) by 1 x 6100 in my old tank which was only 350l not 900l. I am adding aminoacids 3drops 3x weekly & iroan 1 x drop 2x weekly & Pohls vitalizer 9drops daily which my old tank never recieved. any ideas?
  12. Steve can you post a picture of the whole tank etc....
  13. Wow that is one cool (no pun meant) tank I'm thinking another tank could be on the cards. Need to up grade my chiller anyway. I think the best method is for me to start a cold water tank and slowly upgrade.....I have enough stuff lying around and the wife won't notice the cost. Steve, I'm assuming water flow is the same?

Such a wise comment... but you know how it goes and yes yellow tang arrives tomorrow with a heater. Wish me luck as the tang has been waiting for pick up for a while so time is an issuie. Oh the new tang will add stress too the tank, won't help.

Thanks for the advice... come on cracker 3months with out adding anythng! Damm I don't think I could do it. Temp controller I will be adding as my chiller tomorrow which can do this but its in the shed. So 3 x heater and temp controller will help. Oh PLUS add cleaner shrimps x2 (see 3months is not an option) and I'll tell the wife I had to add them to save my fish. What a plan. No option. Temp is up too 25C at the moment and will drop to 22-21 over night, got to cause stress. When my sump was in the house with the chiller controlling temp was never a problem, never moved more than 1deg. Cracker your sump is outside are you have any issuies? How much wattage have you got for heating and how much insulation? Oh also have a yellow tang waiting to be picked up ...... 3months

    White spot

My blue tang has a dusting of salt (white spot) what is recommended? I know this has been discussed 1000 times but the search does not work and I need help. Have not purchased a new heater (lazy) and the tank is having 3deg temp swings 22-25deg C. A real cold day and the tank could hit 21C. Now options. 1) Fresh water dip for 8min 2) set up a hostipital tank and copper treat them 3) Feed garlic - currenlty doing. 4) Buy another 300w heater to make 900w 5) Pray 6) low salt level but not good for my shrimps. 7) add copper to my reef tank... please no. I am getting a heater tomorrow and soaking all food in garlic, I have my old tank I can set up as a hosiptal tank but don't have a skimmer (sold to tel). Do I need a skimmer? I have spare rock in my sumo which I can add to the old tank. Blue tang looks OK and no other fish has it but 1 x spot on powder blue tang and we all now they love white spot. Does everyone agree that it is the temp swings that has caused this? Never had an issuie until this temp problem.

    KP's Tank Build

Wow doing well ... nice
  18. They are reasonably large spots on his body and around his top fin. Heaters are good quality $70 each, blue controller but not sure of the brand without going under the house.. too cold for that. Temperature controller won't help when a heater fails. I use my chiller to control temp... have not set it up yet. Still connected to the old tank and chilling is not an issuie so I have been lazy. I will get it going this weekend with a new heater. Must say I'm a little pleased as I thought 600w was not doing the job, every time I looked both heaters were on but wiggle the cord a it would turn on and off. If I was using a single heater I would be stuffed.

    Stray current

I run my whole system of 12v relays and a PLC. I will do this test to see what I get, but my PLC turns on the relays which turns on the 240v stuff. Not a sparky so it is all DIY stuff.. learnerd lots so far. Oh looks bad as wires are everwhare.
  20. Sorry Duke.. but your post is straight out sales pitch to sell your goods.. so it has to be removed. Sent the interested party a PM.. or use the trading areas. Bill. Mod.
  21. Have been having trouble maintaining heat... found one 300w heater only needs to move and it will turn off. 4deg temp swings has caused white spot on blue tang. Not a lot at this stage but still a concern. Other wise it is excessive mg, not likely. All other fish look OK so I'm feeding garlic and will buy a new heater tomorrow. Any advice? "Put in a container with water a microwave for 20sec?" "Hollywood have a cleaner fish - bit skinny will it eat white spot? - Fay as a beauty" "hospital tank - don't have" "pray - can do"
  22. Thanks reef and wasp.. running nicely at the moment (24 hours) black tube is in to the tank. Tube I thought was out is for getting ride of the air and once done closed- cheers reef. checked ph output around 6.5 but hard to tell. I had a lot of trouble finding a PH test kit which would go this low 6.5 for saltwater. The kit I got only does 0.5 moves so the colour chart says 6.0 - 6.5. I guess I need to find another one! Anyway it working and fine tuning to follow. Will update
