    pumps

Wasp do you count your sump volume in this number? Is this calculated with or without rock? Just thinking about the amount of flow I will need? 760l main tank & 100l sump I was looking at 2 x streams (6100 - 12000l x hr) 1 x L7 return pump (6000l/hr at 2m head) total 30,000l / hr / 760l tank volume = 40x turn over.

    Speed's Tank

    Great pictures.......
  5. No to the skimmer but they have left today so time will tell. I have to sell my 1250 skimmer to recover some $$$. I had to do the same when I brought my twin 150's Arcadia 3series lights off trade me for $650. Sell my T5 setup. You will notice they are still to be used...ah ah. But the skimmer has to go. Any ideas on how to setup an auto syphining from my tank too (can't spell for shi%) under the house? I can use an output (switch) to start a pump from up stairs but it will need to be able to suck a bit of air to get things under way. This water could be used to do a water change in a quarintiene tank under the house with a crude overflow in to a drain. I have power and water under the house. Don't you love the "flick a switch" thing? Lights will come on to confirm that a pump is working, same for a level sensor etc. Anything is possible.

    reef soap

We can't get TV tonight Sky is stuffed. Just about had to talk to the wife @#$%^... computer still works
  7. I have seen 2 stroke water pumps for $299 which could be great for this type of thing. I saw it in a lawn mower shop in Hamilton. Don't know about the salt water though but a good rinse would help. My new tank & sump is 900l, lots of $$$$$ with ASW so a pump would pay its self off rather quickly. The ASW I use is $129 for 750L. This type of talk sells things to my wife, her eyes roll around and she lets out a low moan (don't hear that any where else) which means OK (really means do what you want but if we end up in the poor house its my fault)
  8. I think this companies products are very cool and original in many ways. The pricing is very good also when you compare to other options.
  9. 1450mm x 750 x 700 - tank is being made. Lights 4ft Arcadia (twin 150's + 2 x T5s) + 4ft Arcadia ( 4 x T5) these will be mounted one in front of the other. Over flow design will be simular to this: http://www.reef-eden.com/DIY%202%20.htm I will be using a sump 1000 x 600 x 500. Stright under the tank and under the house so head hight for L7 pump is 1.5 -2.0m. I have standing room under the house. Return pump will use a Super Squid http://www.oceansmotions.com/ and I'm hoping to use 4 x revolution, one on the end of each Super Squid output. The revolutions turn as the Super squid alternates water to each out put. Need to confirm this can be done. http://www.oceansmotions.com/ The whole system will be controlled by a PLC from upstairs including auto top up of the sump and salt water make up bin. I will syphan water from the tank through another pipe from up stairs with a pump also PLC controlled. The PLC has 8 outputs and 16inputs for me to play with. A button for 30min rest on the skimmer for zeovit. There will be LOTs of switches and lights telling me what is going on and is completely programable to my liking. I will be making the stand etc This is a big job but I will keep the pictures and updates comming..... I have great ideas for the control system which will be way cool. Picture of 50mm twin over flows & under house
  10. Thanks Putt Putt for the Mysis I got up at 2am to feed them while all the other monsters were asleep. Still no go. I see them eat nothing (looks like nothing) so who knows. They are definatly night owls and are very active at night. 6days now and still alive. Hoping
  11. Looks very nice... I want 4 http://www.oceansmotions.com/bb.htm
  12. Anyone for some Zeovit?
  13. Reef - no HFF do not have frozen Mysis they are not expecting any for several weeks and have run out weeks ago. Not sure about Jansons I'll PB Ben Thanks
  14. Both still not eating...... very upsetting. How many days until they will die? I visited HW and they said they used Garlic gaurd with Brine and Myis, can't buy Myis frozen so I have tried flake with Brine and every other bit of fish food I have. My poor system is getting food over load. The other fish are thinking this is great but not the stupid Cardinals. Any more advice? They have been in my tank since Saturday! Cardinals are night owls I have heard, could they be finding food at night? I guess if they are not dead in two weeks then they are finding food at night.
  15. Oh yes I am planning 2 x 55mm overflow holes to accept 2" internal bulkhead fitting. An are looking at using 2 x small overflow boxes. http://www.reef-eden.com/DIY%202%20.htm For a picture of my proposed overflow, I want as much space in the tankas possible.
  16. Thanks Reef I will make sure I offer this a couple of times a day.
  17. How would a Oeansmoton Super Squirt work on my return pump (L7) 7000lhr (new tank). I would love to have 2 returns at the front corners of the tank as seen on the OM site and two at the top rear. Flooding etc with a power cut will be an issuie. Any way to beat this besides closed loop as I don't want to run lots of pumps. Is my only option to have the returns near the top of the tank to stop siphoning issuies? The other option is a Sea swirl but I like the idea of hidding most of the equipment. Sea Swirls sit on the top of the tank.
  18. I rang the fish shop and they told me to wait a couple more days as they are still adjusting and that they ate normal fish food while in the shop. These fish must have eaten in quarantine durring the 3weeks so I would like to know what. I don't want these dropping dead on me. I have tried Myis shrimp and no go I don't have brine shrimp but will get some frozen tomorrow. Stress.
  19. I have two Banggai cardinal fish and they are not eating. I understand that they perfer live brime shrimp but I only have frozen, I have tried this but they did not eat anything. What should I do?

  21. What is the wattage of the following? 6100 stream 1260 pump Laguna UP7 8000lph
  22. If I was to purchase a TUNZE 7094 MULTICONTROLLERS from the states will it work in NZ? Am I correct to think the controller uses DC power only? so they are universal all around the world? or are the 240vac or 120vac?
  23. My step brother ownes a large eletronic manufacturing company and this is the sort of thing he does. I have asked him to look at a simple alarm system which will contact you if the tank has a power cut etc by text. No problem. Use an GSM modem which will recieve four inputs, this will allow us to monitor 4 differnt things. I was thinking of the following. 1) Flow meter either inline or in a high flow area in the sump. This can be set to a minimum flow rate. 2) Min and maximium temperature. 3) Sump or tank level sensor 4) Main power The system would use a prepay phone card so there is no contract and would send you a text if there are any problems. My step brother has made simular systems for power companies and has estimated the cost to be $800 - $1000. Is anyone interested in some insurance for their tank?
