  1. That is where my DI water filter is going. I am using a solinoid to turn on the water flow through the filter then in to a 20L container with a level switch and pump. I also have a level switch in the sump which will turn on the pump in the 20L container and top up the sump. I will open the soliniod once a day on a timer which will stop when the 20L is fill. I did not want to turn on the soliniod and have the DI water flow stright in to the sump. If the solinoid or level switch fail water could flow in to the sump for hours. Lesson from accident on net where too much fresh water was added to the sump. If the sump level switch fails then the max I can pump in to the sump is 20L. Complete failure would involve soliniod, pump control and 2 x level switches etc. Not likley.
  2. Chimera, I went shopping today at plumping world. I would like to come and have a look at your setup as I would love to see you tank. I have some oceanmotion stuff comming also. The 2inch pipe in my return the 1inch is back to the tank but is not finished yet. I have purchased fittings from 2inch too 1inch using a tee as you have stated to feed the skimmer. My concern is my chiller as you will see the fittings are for a small hose like a garden hose. Can I include this in my gravity feed for the skimmer? I feel they will be too restricting. My chiller also controls my heaters so I currently use it all year.
  3. Like it... gravity feed sounds the way to go. I am using a L7 return pump which is 50mm what would be the best way to tap in to the flow. Also my chiller also controls the heaters, so I usually leave this conected all year around. Is this not a good idea? Durring the winter it only turns on and off the heater while in the summer it cools the water. It will stuggle this summer as it will be slightly under capacity. thanks for the help much appriciated.
  4. What I mean is I will need to feed the skimmer with half inch pipe to the infeed of the skimmer which is 1 inch. Will this restrict flow too much?
  5. .I am planning to run my AP850 from a 1260 pump through my chiller in too the skimmer. The skimmer input pipe diameter is 1inch while the chiller and 1260 is half inch will this be OK? I am planning to circulate through the sump. Any ideas on plumping options
  6. You can get them from Advance Adhesives in Manakau for $20 each. They have had water based PVA in them so you need to clean them. I have purchased two as my bulk water purchase fell through.
  7. 100w T5's did not know you could buy them? Were are these avalible? Will a standard 54w setup power these?
  8. Went to Water Control Solutions today and was very impressed. They were very helpful and offer many product suitable for fish tanks etc. Found a solinoid valve suitable for saltwater for $150. They have a 1-4, 1-6 & 1-8 way valve for cows poos. Like the Ocean Motion products this valve will turn every time the water pressure is stoped and turned on again. Water will flow through a differnt port $145. Has a spring but is not touched by the water. Level switches for $60 Fresh water solinoids for $50 (24 & 240v) Lots of pipe and fitting. Quite good really. http://www.wcsolutions.co.nz//index.php

    Temperature probe

Wasp I purchased a chinese Resin chiller and you plug your heater in to the chiller so it heat and cools when needed. Digital temp display etc. Has work great but quite noisy... we call it the 747. But I like it for the cost and it has been working for a couple of years with out fault. Now will be under the house
  12. I am hoping to fill a spare 20,000l water tank with saltwater and want a solinoid valve to control the water input. I am learning that this maybe not a good idea, only use 5g top-off tank and not stright from the tap in case of a stuff up where I could flood the sump with fresh water.... that would not be good. Only being lazy and not wanting to fill the top off tank. Same with the salt water option. Manual taps are best. Use a normal top off system.? Anyone have experance with this company, I email them and their respone has been great. Will design for free and recommend componets. http://www.spectrapure.com/St_alc_p1.htm
  13. Came on Wasp I am sure it looks good... Start a thread of new tank... we are all waiting! Mark nice job... I'm from New Plymouth so 3.5 tanks I don't miss the iron sand
  14. Any one know where you can get solinoid valves for top up and saltwater trasfer? I have found a soliniod valve for $58 but it has a stainless steel and brass internals. Used for irrigation on farms etc. Found a soliniod valve that will be OK but $700 was quoted. No thanks. They can be 24v or 240v as they are to be controlled by a PLC. Help?

    Plumping question

Will do... thanks What about the bulk head fittings? Did you silicon these to the tank?
  17. I have plumped my return through the wall and through the floor but have not glued it yet. Is it important to make sure the pipes are pushed together fully? I push the as hard as I can until they lock but who can tell? Is this good enough? Any gluing tips would be appriciated? All the 50mm return pipe work is hard piped, no way to sepearte once it is done as once the tank is full I won't be moving it.

  24. Well its move in to the house time. Stand first and 5mm wider and it would not have come in to the house. Did not fit through the front door and ONLY just came in the ranchslider.
