  1. how bout if i cut a tiny hole on the pipe or the rubber connector of the fx5 inlet. right just under the waterl line, this will then create a small water spoutthat will suck water, the layer of what ever it is and a little air into the fx5 just from the suction... do you think its bad for filters to have some air inside it? just a novel weird idea i saw this happen when i left a hose syponing water, when it got close to the water line, a small whirlpool formed suckin all surface stuff and debris.
  2. it doesnt fit on the fx5 and i used them ages ago it doesnt keep its place lol can you buy a hang on over flow if thats even possible?
  3. this stuff that has a mirror like sheen when the lightshines on it even when i have changed the water, next day it develops. the bubbles from aerator doesnt linger so its notthe toxins, and parameters are fine. but its unsightly, howdoes one eliminate this? n overflow or surface skimmer does it but how do i get one for a tank with no over flow?
  4. HI ALL Who has an arowana on pellets, or who has an asian arowana on pellets here? 8 days now have not fed my red aro anything but hikari sticks - it chews it up and spits.....man! how long with this take lol i wanna start seeing it eat a crap load of pellets and stuff. any suggestions on how to get uptake quickly?
  5. fair enough i was pretty sure that where the greens come from, its different to the other variations. hope its cheaper anyways.
  6. fair enough i am pretty sure that greens are not endangered but i could be wrong. see how much they end up being. none the less, i still think greens look good. it doesnt have the dazzle factor of the scales, but still an awesome fish
  7. greens are not on cites they are not endangered, so price will be similar to the jardinii awhile ago
  8. its crazy! i dont understand. you have more danger of releasing a freshly cooked pancake into our rivers and lakes than this thing. if you put an arowana or armatus or even piranhas into our lakes and waters, first they would be sick from the basic water conditions...then they would die from the cold if you release 1000 specimens. 2 to 3 might survive just out of pure probability - but not for long, they wont digest food, or metabolise, eventually they would be disease with our disease and die - then if thats not enough. If they did live long enough and manage to find that 1 ina million chance of a pair male and female....they cant breed anyways. if you allow the arapaima gigas in here and release it it would die out of coldness straight away, regardless of how big it is. its like chucking a snake around queenstown........... our average temp here is too low for snakes to flourish, i dont get that either.
  9. i disagree armatus is highly tropical in fact very warm wtaer is needed so it wont even survive here it wont be able to digest its food it would die
  10. doubt australia will allow them in lol they have enough trouble getting clown knife fish in the country so you will have to go further, like us, africa, canada - or asia US and Canada is ok African is a hole and asia is even worse! visiting asia is ok but living there....dunno exceptions singapore nd japan but the lifestyle is crap! shame ay i gues you cant have it all lol

  12. Excell is more for Africans, it has a higher content o caretanoids, but also hi in algae and vege matter. so africans take itmore. staple is a less strong version of the GOLD cichlid gold is just beefed up wiht more viatmins and stuff, bout 20% more expensive in theory - but generally, they dont really stock much of it anymorein my lfs, its only cichlid gold now
  13. HIKARI sorry no trout pellets are not not enough proteins and vitamins. too much fat and oat meal. i askedthis also with over seas owners. trout are like salmon, lots of fat arowanas cant have this, its bad for them. Trout pellets are ok for some fish but i wouldnt feed it to my aro personally
  14. yes, hiraki sinking carnivore very good my clown knife went for it but spit it out. so im gonna force it to get onto it. im ordering massivore delight when it gets bigger
  15. ph of 6 isnt bad in fact, it is beter in my opinion cos it ifyou have a amonia spike, its less harmfull or non lethal. in sayinig that, alot of our fish comes from asian waters and south america -so ph should be 6 ish to 7 anyways. africans you need 7.5 to 8 or more so 6 is not bad but i stabilised mine by putting oyster shells. just putit in a stocking bag, and put n the filter, this will stop it from going up and down so much. but if ts always 6 ish - unless the fish specifically needs 7 or more, i wouldnt worry i keep mostly arowanas and asian and south american fish - all requiring low ph so its handy for me. tanks tend to go low ph naturally unless you intervene
  16. i usually go the cheapo way, prawns prawns prawns from supermarket but after seing the value of protein in prawns - and lack of other good ness. prawns typical content is 17to 20% max protein. i calculated, buying pellets, you feel a couple of pellets and its equal to a prawn!!! and it has more goodness! so i am endeavouring to get my clown knife onto sinking carnivore pellets, and my ornate and my red aro onto hikari cichlid gold pellets and food sticksafter anyone else use food sticks or arowanas? feedback?
  17. oh my golly!!! red grade 2 Gold grade 1 Green arowanas all coming and avail soon!!!!!!!! too bad i have no room i cant bring myself to sell my 14 inch dat
  18. ran g pet shop they started trying to sell me medicines to cure hole in head or things like that it doesnt have anything l the other fish are fine! weird! changing water now
  19. fire eel is 13 inch plus, healthy as far as i can see, eating lots and stuff. i woke up and just saw it twitching, and doing 'death rolls' around the tank, and as if having a seizure!! what happened here?>
  20. in theory its not wishfull thinking, it is merely prudent to wait. I have seen a xb for sal for 2k flat, sold for almost 4k backin the day. but i guess, if you get it for reasonable price, and you have the tanks - then theres no point of waiting. but you are right, one day it might get flooded and theywill not be worth as much, when that happens, a twisted turn of events might happen. all the animals here might be older ones or die off, and no one will see that brining them in is profitable anymore - and no one will bring them in. and probably increasing the prce also..... i guess its a cycle that may go both waays lol
