  1. Nice. Here they are in action...
  2. Uploading is like fish breeding, it doesn't always work out the first time
  3. Saw a great tank once I think it was just java moss and caboomba. Glosso isn't as hard as riccia. This is the glosso carpet I grew in a 50cm deep tank but I had a 400w metal hallide light above it. It was a lot of fun but next time I'd do 2 metal hallides at each end so it covers the whole bottom. It has a great carpet effect...
  4. Nope (provided the sponge filter is powerful enough to do the size of the tank). I use to grow out discus with 2 of the above sponge filters in a 3 foot tank but that was overkill...just wanted good circulation and filtration

    Whoops

6inches = 15cm for any metric peeps out there that's a big danio man
  6. The ones with grey stems, clear tube, with black sponge is the best IMO. Easy to clean so you do it more often; and they look good and work well. They come in a small and large size. 7. Hey! Just saw this post. Bummer the numbers are getting down... yea you definitely wanna get the bbs cranking. Not sure exactly what you mean about a double sponge filter but it should be sweet, pretty hard to overdose. The best ones are those black sponge ones with grey tube through the middle. That way there's no holes for the fry to potentially get sucked into like many traditional sponge/box filters.
  8. Some very nice ones like the new yellows and whites. David great pics but they're pretty blurry man what kinda cam you got??
  9. Nice. Otherwise my bro is a vet and I can get him to confirm that droncit/prazi is the most effective medication for flukes. Also simplydiscus.com has a section showing treatment amounts
  10. there is one good one......he was even able to source dimetronidazole for me which is the water soluable version of metronidazole used commonly (but not so commonly in NZ) for discus. I can't quite remember the name of it but look in the yellow pages, they had their email listed cuz i just emailed them and a guy replied. not many have their email on there so if you find one tell me the name and I should remember if that's the one.

    new tank...

My huge discus like the one in my avatar ate the tail off the first gold nugget I got.
  12. Wow you were still keeping these outside EJ? How did you ensure they didn't jump out? That is cool. I like the idea of outside tropicals but heated in some way or just over summer
  13. lol I meant 6 foot but yeah I am kidding I'm making egg catchers for these rare fish I aim to breed. Now.......gotta get the mesh and silicone....

    new tank...

Choc cats are cool and 30cm golden nuggets. What about a goldy or red spot pleco?
  15. I'd be careful. They might have meant growing plants emersed (half out of the water) or submersed but without fish. Like Starfish says, watch out for urea and ammonia. The fish secrete enough urea and ammonia for the tank as it is
  16. Sweet I'll tear my 4wh drive Libero in there

    new tank...

I dunno how long you been here cuz but you're TOTALLY a kiwi
  18. Tim how much you thinking their mate? Would love to see your set up sometime. Rogan I love the peat but why is your tank green?!
  19. Beautiful fish. Prefer fish 1 tho..
  20. Biff 'em and get 100 neons in there
  21. I'll take it. Be up there this weekend. Any snails or duckweed in it tho?
  22. How wide is the tank? I got a 5ft long steel stand by 38cm wide stand for sale, not very heavy, and already has a blue curtain glued to the front of it so looks tidy
