I will look at them and admire the patterns etc but They give me the creeps!!I would not want a dead one!I hate the way they move, kill and eat their food.Funny thing I have 2 brothers in aussie that love them and have heaps.
cause its easier to keep the temps up in the warmer zone that does this, people also naturally think if your hatching something warmer must be better, but in this case 26-27?is not that `warm` at all, hence more females.
had a look at the pic,the head is looking a bit big which is good but the crest should be more pronounced by now??could be just the angle?I would think there would be more colour as well, what do you others reckon?
when people have things as personal posessions they can house them how they like. The perfect example of this would be the domestic cat!there are thousands running loose all over nz in varying degrees of domestication.Killing and maiming all sorts of wildlife ,native and otherwise. We have had the same thing with people breeding ferrets and then releasing them when there was no financial return or it just got too much to care for them properly.Koi carp, deer, pigs ,goats, the list goes on and on.We have had recent events with mosquitos and painted apple moth that have resulted in huge ariel spraying to try and erdicate them.To have the same scenario with snakes would be too much for us kiwis to take(we have a genetic fear of snakes)we would all have to pack up and move to......somewhere there ain`t no snakes!!
I would go easy on the water/mist etc.The humidity is high enough in ak`s as it is,they don`t like alot of humidity.
They do have individual personalities as well and I have my last2 babies from last year and they just don`t like to be seen, they come out and eat their food etc but if they see me they are off. They were the bottom of the pecking order of all their siblings and they just seem to have had the confidence knocked out of them?As for the lack of shedding that to me means a lack of growth?
I have fed baby beardys alot of mealworms, but only BABY mealworms and it is a long job to sort them out!Never had any problems but always been aware of it,have read on some sites that the live worm thing is a myth?
yeah,we have enough aussie crap here already, bathurst burr, brush tailed opposums, wallabies.Put that with the pomme crap, rabbitts, gorse, blackberry.etc etc.We don`t want anymore environmental disasters like your cane toads??
you want to see something better? How about a bright sulpur yellow coloured eel?Napier aquarium had a couple years ago, also a piebald one.Really nice looking things they were. Also had some people from dannevirke ring them up as they had found one while cleaning out their drains or dams, someone thought it was a snake so hit it with their spade??yes ,it died a few days later.
always keep my hatchlings up around 30,keeps their metabolism going and they eat more and seem to do better. If you can get your tank where the natural sunligt falls they seem to know and make a beeline for that spot when the sun hits it.They soon learn to come out under a normal light bulb for the warmth as well.
frogs and goldfish get along fine in my pond too. There are also a few baby turtles in there that do no harm yet?Mind you something has been chewing to new shoots of my tropical water lillies?
have the same problem with a large outdoor pond.On a sunny day the much starts to oxegenate and floats up with little bubbles of oxy attached to it.Next morning all sunk back to the bottom.I just get in there with a net and scoop it out, looks really unsightly but the water is still clear.
